Norway 2012 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Auto Ipanema SandDiscovery 4

Land Rover in Norway had not heard about this recall when i contacted them. Later i got an an email stating that my 2005 D3 was not one of the cars to be recalled. Strange because my towbar has a lot of play😫

Hoping someone can offer some advice please. My 05 has had a removable towbar at some stage in its life and it looks "well used" around the area where the towbar would slot in.

I didnt get the towbar when I got the car and want to buy one but dont want to waste my money if the socket that the bar plugs into would need replacement anyway.

It would be occasional medium weight use so I'd much prefer a removable than fixed bar.

Does anyone know if LR can test for excessive wear without actually having the removable bar?

Thanks

Has anybody managed to make any sense out of the range of VINs associated with Q393?

I have tried interpreting them using the breakdown of VINs in the Wiki and the bulletin seems to only apply to North American specification vehicles, all V8s and mostly left hand drive.

I rang my local LR dealer and they told me pretty much there and then if I was included in the recall. All they needed from me was the VRN. Mines an 06.

JLR D3 tow bar recall letter arrived

Received letter in the post yesterday from JLR. (July 6th 2015)

Reference Q393 - D3, D4 & RR Sport detachable tow ball.

Anyone else had this already ?

Letter states: "A heavy duty multi-height towbar will be installed or the rear crossmember may be replaced" - serious stuff then Sad

I'm guessing this is not a quick fix - whilst you wait job, hoping a replacement vehicle is provided !

There is a big thread on here about this subject, so worth having a search.

I think everyone is included, regardless of whether you purchased your Discovery new or used.
