Hi all, does anyone have a spare D4 Bezel they are willing to part with. I am looking at modifying one to fit around a Garmin GPS

Don’t know why you want one as a D3 owner.
They don’t fit D3 very well

I thought the D4 satnav bezel was used when upgrading to the D4 screen Pete ?

A D3 bezzel fits D3 dash much better. And can easily be glued to D4 display

So I have a D4 screen on the way, I know that you can switch the screen off at night however saw this on Amazon and wondered if it might solve the dimming issue…
Just out off interest really and something to fiddle with 😁
Has it been tried already?

Well you need 2 things as well
1. A light sensor and resistor. (There are details somewhere on here. )
And hope they work the right way. I.e dark to dim display.
2. Know how to interrupt the back light driver to insert it

Hi Pete, yep I took a look at some circuit diagrams and can see that the ambient light FET just Feeds into the BCM so any output to the Nav would be digital. Might leave this one alone I think and just hit the Red X.. There are a lot better minds on the long thread that have looked at this and I am not going to be able to improve on their good work !...

So if I’ve read this thread correctly.
We can get the following with these upgrades.
D4 sat nav which can be updated.
D4 phone controls on screen and other info.
D4 reverse camera can be wired in.
Dab radio is a possibility as well?

2. Yes. Not guaranteed. May need D4 BT module

Dab radio is a possibility as well? should be maybe , but i can not get it working.. not with OEM LR DAB unit , not with aftermarket DAB+, spent a few 100's and no DAB still

I have a D4 module and the correct Most cable fitted.
Going to rebuy an iid tool, sold my old one when I thought I was selling the car…
Now the cars staying and getting a full restoration I’m looking at the mods I would like to add.
Picked up a D4 tailgate handle with reverse camera for a decent price hence my question on that as the D3 handle is needing changed.
Shame on the DAB, would have been nice to have.

Regarding the DAB, i would not worry.... FM is still everywere and DAB not.. and then DAB and then DAB+
some stations do only one of them, other countries may even have only DAB+, others only DAB.. Best regards
