Brittany ferry cost
So, to take the tin tent and family across Portsmouth-St Malo it is £7-800 and that's booking in advance for August 2015.
Is this normal? I thought the reason it was that price last year was because I booked late.

Yep their prices have gone up approx. 30% due the a new EU reg that they can no longer use heavy oil they now have to use Red diesel and also have carbon capture filters on the funnels. (from 2015)
Look at the ecomic Pompy to Le Havre, or a day crossing to Caen

they sail from Plymouth to roscoff and Santander...several years ago they introduced fluid pricing and you could no longer get a price list as I understand it

Interesting replies folks. For me the benefits would be:
1. Might be moving nearer to Portsmouth
2. Less driving the other side when heading down west of France
3. Offset cost against fuel
So whilst it would never be cheapest I'd like it to be cheaper!!
