Leisure battery question

Leisure battery question

Sorry if daft question Embarassed , but can I use the leisure battery while it's being charged by a Ctek?

So it's constantly attached to the trickle charger, while the 12v Waeco fridge is plugged in at the same time - will this cause a problem?

If the current draw exceeds what is going in then clearly the battery is not being charged. A largish draw on the battery can confuse a computerised charging system as it is not expecting the state of charge to reduce. Should this be an issue there is a way around this on some chargers.

Robbie, you beat me to it, I have a 25A Ctek and it has the power to run equipment and still charge but like the last post said, if you are taking out more than you are putting in, you will run into problems.

I have a Ctek 5, so I'll check the voltmeter, volts did drop when on highest freeze setting, but may be OK once on normal setting.......will let it get cold then measure again when on normal setting Thumbs Up

Don't 12v caravan fridges draw 8 ~ 12 amps, perhaps even more?

If you are connected to the mains for the Ctek will the fridge not work off mains power instead?

If this is a plug-in car fridge it will draw about 5 amps, so it will be working the charger hard but if it works it will be stemming most of the loss from the battery.
