Actual experience of the JE upgrade
I dont want a debate on whos ECU upgrade is the best (as this has been done to death), I just want to hear from somebody who's had the JE upgrade, as with the offer on right now, its very tempting. I dont mind a PM if you feel happier about a reply that way.
cheers

what is the JE offer, al....... always on the road less travelled 🚧
50% off if you get it done in June. Works out at £400 for the remap.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

yep - £402.44 to be exact, inc VAT.
BHP up from 190 to 235, Torque up from 440Nm to 575Nm.
Must be paid for in June (after talking to John at JE).

I've had the same discussion, although may not be able to get it done in June, they're happy to honour the price for July fitment if I give 50% deposit in June.
Just waiting for NFU to confirm the extra cost (if any), then I'll go ahead.
My choice has ended up being based on the overall cost £402 vs £500+ rather than any specific technical difference.
There are some of last years Morocco people who had JE & Others had TC, I believe both performed suitably.(as a general guide) and as you've said at the beginning, don't want this to run into another which is best debate).
They need the car for two hours to do the tune.
As I understand it, JE will be doing the petrol V8's that LR will continue exporting, so there is definately a very strong link between JE & LR. Personally I don't think you'll have any problems (other than keeping your right foot off the accelerator afterwards )

I think they'll just be preparing them at the JE place in Coventry & putting the V8petrol engines in with a std map. Don't think it'll be to re-map them, although there is a JE filter & exhaust system to get a bit more ooomph for 2006 models onwards....... (if you've got plenty of cash!) Doesn't seem to be a re-map availableBodsys Brake Bible

They fit V8s into new Defenders, mainly for the Middle East market. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Let us know what the extra is.
I may have to change from Livic, as they sate they do not cover modified vehicles.
NFU is my next best bet

I think NFU get a bit funny if you join them with a modded vehicle, they seem to be much more open to having a std vehicle & they then accept an upgrade. (well, hopefully they will....)
I just want to hear from somebody who's had the JE upgrade
I've got it, 'tis grand, no complaints The End

Slimer - thanks.
Its not just the numbers that I look at, so is it more responsive than standard, especially from a standstill? Does it feel "perkier", like you want to use it.
cheers
