Not sure it does...
nothing on their site indicates it's transferable and TBH it wouldn't make good business sense if it were - there's also nothing to indicate it can cope with dealer software upgrades either

Quote:LR dealers cannot detect the remap - except by the guy that does the test drives after service or warranty work, Ins. co's cannot access vehicle data without a court order and LR Gaydon's intervention, given that the top speed is unchanged (in in the case of Torq-Tune) and BHP & lb/ft are not quoted in collision statistics then there's not much chance of it being listed as a contributory factor - driver awareness and control are generally the bits being looked at, together with external influences such as weather, road conditions and the missing brain cells from the chav that steps out in front of 2.7 tonnes of Solihull's finest
The question was can LR detect the remap. FR dealers cannot, apparently. Can LR themselves?
Can insurance companies detect the remap? I'm not sure if the response given is a yes or a no. Seems to me they could if they were incentivised to so do by the possibility of a large payout.
As far as warranty goes I'd say be aware of the possibility of issues and take your own decision based on your perception of the risk of having to dig into your own pocket to put things right. LR can only refuse to cough up on items that could be affected by the increase on power / torque. E.g. they would find it difficult to not pay for problems with the lights, tailgate etc.
I personally would never take the risk of not insuring properly. The consequences of having a major accident and not being insured could be financially devastating.

There are a great many people who don't insure. If you trawl all the other motoring forums as I did ...I cannot find one incidence of a chipped \ remapped motor being investigated to that extent following a claim.
That is not to say that they do not possess the technology though...if you mowed down 15 ramblers and they were facing a multi-squillion pound payout then who knows to what extent they would go ? But my guess is that, in the main, claims to that level are rare out of a motoring population of 31 million. "You takes your chances"
However...the simple answer to all of this is to just get yourself covered, it doesn't cost much and provides ultimate peace of mind 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Your driving an expensive car and no doubt paying £300+ for insurance. You will have paid circa £500 for the remap and £70 every time you fill up. Why bother saving the extra £20 by not declaring the mod to your insurance company.
IF, yes it may be a big IF, but IF they do bother to check you will have been driving around uninsured in effect throwing your premium away. Your call , but it seems a no brainer to me.
It is true they dont bother because most of the time you dont cost them much, but get involved in a fatal RTA and you may find there investigation is alot more detailed. Did a quick search on google and first page had an example of a person getting caught.
Sorry to be a kill joy but I hate uninsured motorists, especially if they hit my car

I paid £226 for my LR insurance with NFU Direct.
Just asked for a cost to add the JE tune & it'll come with a 35% loading! adding about another £85.
35% sounds a lot, but the overall figure of a touch over £300 is still amazing for a £45k vehicle with an engine tune.

Just booked it into JE to have it 'Breathed On'
They're very busy at the moment, my booking is 16th July.
I paid it today [at my request] and asked them not to send invoice [swmbo dosn't know!!]
I was going to have this done by another party, but their deal of £402.44 all inclusive, was way too good to refuse - and with no loading whatsoever on my insurance!!
Roll on 16th July!! ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Yeah, I finally had that chat with the underwriters and they confirmed not a problem for most existing customers (depends on a few factors, like any track record of smashing up cars with alarming regularity). Still arguing the toss on what they want to charge me for declaring the Mantec and ASFIR skid plates! I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Arguing over Skid Plates ???
I also had problems convincing them on my 20" Stormers.
'We don't cover modified vehicles' I was initially told.
So imagine my surprise to the engine tuning ...
the point we think they'd contest the most ....
and it isn't an issue?
very strange! ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Their front office underwriting system only has an option for "body modifications", which can include anything from an alloy filler cap cover to a full-on jap rocket bodykit with splitter. Statistically these cars are more prone to accidents and theft attempts (including theft of items from inside the car) so they load premiums very heavily. By £120 in my case
Currently got a conversation going with the head of underwriting to try and get a more sensible view on the matter. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
