Floaty D3 and loose through corners

I've only had my D3 for two weeks now and I feel that's it's close to going out of control on some corners even at 50mph.
It had new bushes fitted before I picked it up and the dealer said it had the 4 wheel alignment done at the same time but my wife is scared to drive it now.
Can any help or have some info to go back to the dealer with.

Just take it back and tell them it scares you in the corners and something isn't right. A simple road test will confirm your concerns and hopefully have them investigating.
It could be a whole host of causes tbh but is most likely running gear, steering, suspension related.

Probably best to go back with it and get it checked.

Thanks

Tyres can be a contributing factor. Depending on the amount of tread left, whilst they may well be legal, the Disco does do some awful things when they get down.

I had a similar problem to you when I had GoodYear Wranglers fitted - they had about 4mm left on them but it felt like driving on ice. Roundabouts were a real challenge Big Cry

Cheers Steve,

We do have wranglers fitted on the front with about 4mm and new scorpions on the back which sounds like it could be them since you had the exact same issue with the roundabouts.
I am looking to change the alloys for bigger so I might wait before putting on new.

Would putting on 22" alloys make any difference on handling or wheel bearings.

Don't fit 22"s. It ruins the ride of the car, and are more prone to cracking etc

I've got your phone number from a lad Colin from Aberdeen but I'll be offshore this next week from Friday.

Hi
You had new bushes fitted and the alignment was done, but were height sensors recalibrated. As highlighted by BBS SPY (colin) in http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic116098.html it is necessary in some situations of which new bushes is one. May be worth checking with the dealer that they did it.

Well yet again you might be spot on. I've been asking other Disco owners about the height of mine compared with theirs as the height from the wheel to the arch looks a fair bit more than theirs even when the system check always comes up as being normal. I've not checked how it looks when raised but it seams to lower no problem.

Found my original post from 2011 - remarkably similar to your issue.

Tyres are a good starting point, if they are low tread wise D3 and D4's tend to follow tram lines and can be a bit un-settled when going round corners.
You say the the wheel alignment has been done, was it done as proper 4 wheel alignment, was it done in tight tolerance mode by a LR dealer or approved wheel alignment place. First time I had the wheel alignment done on my first D3 it came back worse than it started and was all over the road. It was re-done at a "proper" place and was a diffrent car all together. Thumbs Up

Cheers Russell.
I'll check with the dealer this morning about how they done the alignment. There are 2 local garages to me that can do the laser alignment where I could take it.

Anybody know of some tidy 20" alloys for sale before I put new tyres on.
