Hi,
Even though my question was never intended to create such a two sided debate, I have to say that reading what Narpy is saying, I do agree with him in his suggestion for all these devices to have more in depth manuals, as the market that the sellers have captured to sell these tools are not Land Rover Technicians but the owners of the vehicles in question with various degrees of competency - so a good manual would be a positive step imho.

If more people contributed to the forum by editing and updating the wiki then we would have a comprehensive and living guide. There are relatively few of us that provide wiki content but the skeleton IID section is there for all to use. So if you know how to use an IID Tool function then get typing!
...and yes, I am still willing to help anyone who pops round as I appreciate that some of us prefer hammers to iPads.

There's days when I want to introduce the iPad to the hammer
I have the BT IID Tool and an Faultmate MSV2, and I have to say that the IID is way easier for me to use. But then again, I've never used the Nanocom.
IMO, the only thing about the IID Tool, is that it's marketed through Britpart

I've been using vs 3 for a while on non BT model, but there is still no SNOTM which was the main reason I purchased one.
Regarding removing the fuel burning heater light when installing clock in the dash, is this selectable? I have updated my dash with vs 2.8 and fitted a green lamp motif, if I have reason to reinstall will it put this LED out?
Along with a better user manual I also think there should be better packaging or at least an end cap to keep dust out, what happens when the cardboard box wears out or gets wet?- even cheap £10 devices come in decent plastic wallets or cases.
Otherwise this is an excellent tool and hope PatGap dosn't think we are criticising him and his team.It can when others can't,

I think my first Beta report suggested a case and they have considered it.
I bought mine one of these to sleep in for all of £2.20 inc vat and delivery (Amazon):

This I totally agree with. For the price of the tools (Nanocom Evo in my situation), I would have preferred / thought a plastic protective case to protect the unit would have been supplied instead of the cardboard box.

Nothing said in this thread should be taken in any way as criticism. If anything it is highlighting what their market is finding.

Hi Guys
Just back from vacation on Monday so i'm finally catching up on a few threads here and there. Indeed Ctrl+f is very useful when consulting the user manual but I will add a more complete table of content in the next iteration. This should speed things up when searching for specific items.
We rarely receive comments on the manual so feel free to send them to us, it will help improve it.
