Some strange flickering....
OK, so recently my battery and alternator died, both have been replaced and all seemed fine.
Now I have another issue with the electrics.
Shortly after start up the sat-nav has flickered, the radio sounded like it was losing reception and the orange parking brake came on very briefly (maybe half a second). Everything then goes back to normal with no error messages and the car seems fine.
This has happened twice now.
I hope it is not pointing towards more major electric issues.
Any ideas what this could be? Am I just round the corner from another major issue?
Thanks for your help.

You probably need to get the fault codes checked.
The EPB will flicker if the voltage goes over or under certain tresholds - and a fault code will be triggered.

I've heard you need to 'tell' the D3 when you have fitted a new battery. If this hasn't been done could this be the problem??
Trying to get local indie to have a look.

I had the flickering amber EPB warning too.
I had a new alternator (at LR dealer) 14 months ago and a new (Exide not LR) battery last February and it's only happened recently (on just two occasions).
I'm also worried that an alternator / battery failure is on its way - but it seems strange given that they've only been in there for a year - and have been fine so far.

OK, will definitely get the codes checked.
When you say 'spurious' alternators, what do you mean?
Everyone is manic at the moment with the run up to Christmas so may have to wait a few days.
Is something catastrophic likely to occur?

Wow - I have the exact same symptoms.
Had the alternator changed under LR warranty, the battery (which was new Sept 2012) was checked and deemed undamaged. In the car park of LR dealer to take it home and this happened.
Has happened every morning since. Took it back for a hard reset. No change. Had the battery on trickle charge overnight - helped for the first morning but back to the same symptoms every morning since. Battery checked again and reads as happy.
Back at dealers since yesterday so they could test it from cold start and yet to head. Just hoping warranty cover the problem whenever it's diagnosed.
Strange that it only started since the new alternator and also only ever on the first trip of the day. Any subsequent trips that day and it behaves impeccably!
Will keep you posted as to what the dealer finds...

Thanks Geoff, but I want to use either my own or the garage I know the place I bought it from use - in case any works are required.

That's interesting wannabe. Mine doesn't happen every morning, only twice in the last 4 days. Worrying though because I don't want it to grind to a halt again. When was your alternator changed?
When you say hard reset, I assume you just mean disconnect the battery for a bit?

Wannabe - please keep us posted. My search of the forum didn't find any similar issues - but clearly it is more common than I first thought.
It would be really helpful to know what the dealer finds. I wonder if it another one of the low battery / cold start problems.
My issues have only happened when I haven't driven it for a day or so - and it's been left with various things draining the battery (I have a blackvue and FBH remote running all the time).

Am I right in understanding what you are saying, on a D4 you have to have the electronics re-set to tell them that a new battery has been fitted? If so whyMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Ok, dealer update - the replacement alternator (changed 3 ish weeks ago) was overcharging so new one on order for delivery and fitting tomorrow.
Hopefully will solve the problem so I will know when I've picked it up and run it for a few days.
