I work in one of the most technically advanced industries in the UK, I have to understand often complex drawings and specs so I am used to things, on occasion, being complicated.
If the manual had an A to Z index, where you could search for what it was you wanted to do, it would be 100% better. At the moment, to achieve anything, you have to refresh your memory by randomly navigating the menus until you find what it is you want. IMO, it shouldn't be like that, the user manual should take you straight to it and it will, once you've found where it's covered and to do that, you have to read the whole manual every time you want to do anything.
It is easy enough to use admittedly, but finding what you want to do and where that is, is really not the best.

I have to say I am also surprised that anyone would say it's not user friendly.
I think it's all pretty self explanatory, when using from the IPAD it couldn't be more clear.
Yes there are disclaimers but I can assure most diagnostics do/should do that.
I have Nanocom One, MSV Extreme and IID PRO, all great bits of kit but IID has fantastic support as they are in a time zone behind ours it means you play into the evening and still be able to contact someone.
The PRO is still in Beta testing but is still a slick product, the only issues I've had were during firmware updates(quite common in BETA phase) and one occasion GAP had written an update within 1 hour!
Let's not forget GAP are the first people to get the clock in dash without fuel burning heater light, worth buying one for that reason alone IID PRO

With respect, you're talking about a totally different version of the IID tool AND V3 is already available for that.

I didn't know that - mind you I like the lights on indicator TBH.
Narpy,
I'm sure an index could be done very easily - I do one as a matte of course on all my technical documents - partly because it increases the word and page count
If it was in word, I'd do it in anything from 30seconds to 10minutes depending on the formating used
I haven't actually looked at the manual since i had the tool until today though. Mark.

I'm not even sure that feature has been released yet.

If it is only just in beta (I've not seen it yet) then I guess as most at GAP are on holiday it will be some time coming. Unless Pat is doing a bit at home Mark.

One of the directors at work is based in Canada - often I'm skyping him mid morning (And earlier) and still getting emails late evening - I;m not sure he sleeps much as it often seems to work out at 20hour days
Just checked my update and I've not got the beta other than SNOTM Mark.

They did say the new IPC/Clock on dash would be released just shortly
Would be good if it could be combined with the instant MPG display in the trip computer too My D3 Build Thread

Fair point, looking at it on an IPAD is very different to scrolling through menus on the car display. On the IPAD you can see all the options one go so making a selection is easier for sure IID PRO

Sorry can't explain why you don't but I've had it since April (released not beta) I think, as have others.

As a thought Narpy. have you downloaded the latest updater?
If not, go to the GAP site and log in, and then goto My Products and follow the instructions for downloading and installing the files. Mark.

I agree that in the non BT version there is an element of having to remember where things are in the menu structure but I really don't find it difficult and have never even picked up the manual since the day I had it, yet achieved everything with it that I wanted to. Isn't more or less every electronic device like this these days, you have to learn the menu structures yourself to be able to do things quickly and efficiently? Expecting the manual to show you how to use every single feature, with something this complex, is just fanciful isn't it?

On the contrary, have you never stopped to think that because it's so complex it more than warrants a decent manual.
All I'm saying is for the new and occasional user, it's hard work to navigate and IMO there should be an A to Z type menu within the manual where you can find, for example, Steering Angle Sensor Calibration or Service Indicator reset, which explains which area to look in WITHOUT having to randomly trawl through the varies files etc. until you just happen to stumble across it or WITHOUT having to read the whole manual every time desperately searching for whatever it is you need.
I really don't think that's unreasonable.

I haven't no. I'll try that.
++UPDATE++ Now done and I do have the latest version of software, which coincides with a statement on the GAP site about V3 still being in Beta testing.
