Including drive in/ drive out & fitting new fuel filter 3.6 hours - say 4 hours maximum, that's 375 euros an hour, although it might include the dreaded VAT.
Good luck

It depends how keen you are to get moving but a hire car for the rest of your trip and getting the vehicle recovered to the UK for the work to be done has to be more cost effective?06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I had a quote from an official LR dealer in Italy 2 weeks ago. New HPFP 2600€, labour included. This included a new pump, building in and checking the LPFP and the fuel system up to the injectors. They said it could be more if they had to change injectors, but because my engine was still running fine, the injectors probably would be fine.
I thought this was already a high price and didn't let them do it, luckily it was on our way home when this quote came and we took the plane back home and the car was towed back to Belgium where it is in the garage now for inspection, still not sure if it is the HPFP.2017-...: Disco II Td5 auto, 1999, BAS remap, HD TC and auto box Ashcroft, Allisport IC, ACE, 2" lift only coils, BF goodrich KM2 265/70R17, FF front and rear bumper, TF steering guard and tree sliders, nanocom.

Should have looked at your MY year.

Thank you for the link. Quick call to Doug confirmed this was done in 2009. Was worth a try though.

First thank you all for replys and help, the recall had been done , massive thanks to disco 3 member Achim who has helped beyond anything I ever hoped for. Following his ringing around the insurance company (RAC) have moved the car to a new garage for a quote and we are now at a campsite with hire car. I'll keep the thread updated but dint expect anything to happen to next week. RAC gave been excellent apart from communication but you call them they are great.
Thanks all this is one pricy job .
And thAnks again Achim couldn't have done what we have without you
Great site great people

Car in competent garage, apparently it's not the HPFP but the tensioner of the HPFP bolt has stripped the thread somehow so positive is don't need a new pump ? It can't be fixed so getting it repatriated and then will need some disco3 support to fix this !!!!!!!

When I've stopped crying I'll decide what to do , step one get the car on my drive in the uk so can have a good look and feel about and make sure the info is 100% as it translated from French garage to rac to me.
I know it's a tight fit , excuse the layman but if I can get a spanner to do up the bolt can't I put a tap in ?
Regard

perhaps a helicoil will be the fix but getting a drill and getting tapped square is critical so either pull engine out the front or lift body if you have all the equipment for both.

I know it is physically possible to pull the engine through the bonnet but it is one hell of a job compared to pulling the body off the car.
I'd get the body off to repair the thread as it would be nightmare to do it with the body in the way; almost impossible I would say and not worth the risk to the block.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
