Yes, I think we should keep quiet, or 'they' will hear...

It's a lot compared to one of these zero tax things, but in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather fork out the £500 and kick about in the beast. Thumbs Up

It's about time that VED was done away with. Fuel is completely disproportionately taxed (just been over to France where I was paying £1.02/litre!) anyway. If the VED was ploughed back into the roads it wouldn't be so bad, but it pays for the current/previous set of w*****s to hold a review of a review of a review, and a few nice "jollies" thrown in!

Just think, if we accepted a small rise in fuel duty (wash my mouth out) of say 2p/litre, it would probably cover the revenue gained from VED anyway, and those that do the mileage pay for what they use. Secondly, we'd save a fortune by closing probably 50% of DVLA down. Win, win for the tax payer/motorist, but lose, lose for the bureaucratic Civil Service. Shocked

Just checked online. My 2006 is now £275 for 6 months or £500 for one year.
The wife's car is £75 a year and is far less comfortable.

I really fail to see why we should be taxed so much for wanting to actually enjoy our cars.

Meh..... You can't buy smiles like that for a grand this side of a latvian massage parlour.
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
