Having replace my inner rod ends and track rod ends went and got my wheels alligned front only now the steering wheel is at a 15 degree angle. Before replacing the supposedly worn parts( according to the land rover garage) the steering wheel was straight as you like!! Any ideas??

Very common. It's caused by the guy who did your alignment not considering the steering wheel alignment while he completed the task.
Go back and have a moan, it's easily corrected. Mods:

Garmin Nuvi + D4 Surround + Reversing Camera.
D4 Steering Wheel.
Rear Boot Spoiler.

I've just had the same issue, chap said he didn't have a steering wheel lock large enough to fit a Discovery steering wheel (!), so had to hold it straight when doing alignment. Not straight enough however, so going back this week for further correction and this time I'LL hold the wheel straight!
My local indy mechanic always recommends putting the car into lockdown/tight-tolerance mode before doing the alignment, needs his plug-in diagnostics to do this though, so the whole thing will involve another trip to two garages.... Discovery 3 HSE Auto (2007)

If they leave door ajar whilst doing the adjustment that should be enough to stop it re levelling whilst adjusting the steering. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

like Barn1e says I've done it both ways and never had a problem
i had access to a hunter machine and tried it without putting it into tt Mode then took it for a drive and rechecked it in TT mode and it was bang on , it really depends on who,s doing it and if they know about discovery,s
ps saying that the correct way is always the best

I assume your using Andy White ?....and if so he usually sends customers to CLCM ....if that's where you went I'm surprised at the outcome....my D3 went there three times after Andy put it in TT mode and it was spot on every time "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

How would they correct this, would they have to do the whole alignment again.
My steering wheel is out and I wondered if I could very carefully wind one track rod end in, and wind out the other by exactly the same amount in order to centre the wheel. What would happen.

Andi,
What you suggest is entirely correct, have done it myself. You need to be really careful though as when tightening/untightening it is very very easy to slip it one way or the other or loose track of where you are/what you have done.........been there.
The theory is correct though, just be very carefull as a half turn will be enough to take it in or out of tolerance.

Plus, your steering angle will be out so unless you can reset this with IID etc you may get a whole load of new issues.
Note to self........... Must think before pressing enter.
