My Disco cut out whilst driving and won't start?!
Driving my Disco 3 yesterday when all of a sudden it cut out and lowered, hazards started flashing, interior lights came on, doors unlocked, lots of lights on the dash, E in gear display. Suspention lowered, hdc fault, engine system fault, system fault special programs not available, when I stopped (on the side of the A419 in Swindon!) apply handbrake came up.
Tried a hard reset at the side of the road, didn't work so got towed home.
A very helpful guy from CVP Landrovers stoped to help, but didn't have any tools etc. but did tell me to check 3 connectors in the passenger side front arch, 2 in drivers front and one in passenger rear.
I'll check these ASAP, but is this a common fault?

Yep, done a bit of research tonight, two similar fault were crash mode which resets with an ignition cycle which it doesn't, or canbus issues!
Anywhere common to cause this? Will it show up on diagnostics?

Ahh so my park brake fault, orange light on, may have caused this! Also noticed that my cruise control didn't work.
Only started the park brake fault last week, but wasn't squealing and still worked fine, I was going to adjust it to try and fix it, looks like it could be something else then!

I can sympathise with your issues.

So today I have got round to looking at the disco. I've checked all connector blocks in the rear arches, both front arches, epb connector and the connectors behind the battery. Still no luck! All the big connectors are fine, no corrosion or broken wires, I only found 1 corroded terminal on the offside rear arch, a small 2 wire connector, think it's an abs sensor connector. I also tried code reading the car first with an omitec omiscan handheld reader which would connect but couldn't read any of the cars modules, was just saying 'control module not available' on every module!
So now I'm stuck with a car or axle stands with no apparent wiring issues that won't do anything useful!
Does anyone have any ideas?

Ignition switch
You really need to read the fault codes to pin point.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Did you try reading the codes while the hazards were flashing?
If so, that is to be expected. The CAN-BUS network links all the modules together. If this link is broken, the link cannot be completed, hence all of the "No Comms"My D3 Build Thread

Try the red fuse 10 amp no thirty I think.
Happened to me and after spending 200 quid at the dealers it turned out to be the fuse

Do the ignition switches give issues then? Is there any way I can check it?It's done 111k so it could be worn I guess.
Yes I tried reading the codes whilst the hazards are on, can't turn them off.
Cheers for the advise so far!

Ignition switch won't be causing your issues
On the plus side, as your fault seems to be permanent, it is much easier to track it down. Most likely a wiring issue, but could be a faulty moduleMy D3 Build Thread

Good and good!
I was hoping to find a broken wire somewhere! Is there anywhere else I can/should look? Or would a decent (iid) diagnostics tool find anything?

No, comes down to good old fashioned diagnostics
You need to break down the CAN-BUS wiring into sections, and isolate them. If the wiring is all fine, then start isolating modules, one by one My D3 Build Thread
