Q1: What is the New Age of Discovery? A1: Land Rover has spent the last few years working on developing and launching a whole new range of luxury vehicles within the Range Rover family. We are now starting the next chapter of our story by developing the incredible asset that is our Leisure SUV, Discovery, into a new family of vehicles. We call our future vision for this category The New Age of Discovery.
Q2: Is the Discovery Vision Concept the new Discovery?
A2: At the Geneva Motorshow in March Land Rover confirmed that it plans to create a family of Discovery branded vehicles. The Discovery family of vehicles will focus on versatility & capability as a key point of difference. The Discovery Vision Concept, to be unveiled at New York, previews the new Discovery family design language and a range of exciting future technologies under development for application across the range. It does not represent production vehicle intent. The Discovery Vision Concept is not the replacement for current Discovery or Freelander.
Q3: What features have you retained from the original Discovery? A3: The Discovery is known for being a capable and versatile vehicle, while being comfortable and pleasurable to drive. We wanted to ensure that the Discovery Vision Concept retained this ethos; hence features such as the seven seat configurability and Terrain Response are retained and developed. What we have added are technologies and features which go further to make the Discovery Vision Concept even more capable and versatile.
Q4: The concept seems luxurious and has some similar features as the Range Rover family – is this the direction that Land Rover is moving towards? A4: Not at all. The Discovery has always been a distinctive vehicle and we always create clear and strong design personalities for our cars. Of course, there will always be some common design language across the range – we are creating families and families have a resemblance. They all belong to the Land Rover brand. In terms of the Discovery being luxurious we like to think of it as premium, yes, but it will always be incredibly tough, hugely capable and one of the most versatile and flexible SUVs on the market.
Q5: Are low-emissions a priority with the new Discovery family? A5: Jaguar Land Rover is committed to a low emission future for all of our vehicles. Discovery family will be no exception to this.TLO has left the building.......
I no longer work for a Landrover Dealer
