WOW! I love it.... As a concept/vision of whats to come... I think it looks amazing.
I remember when the bold design of the D3 was unveiled for the first time as a concept and people were up in arms at the design, yet it quickly became a design classic.
This is no different. Good design only gets a general consensus approval. To be the best, great design needs to polarise and challenge... there will be lovers and haters... but I think this is amazing design. Wont be everyones cuppa tea... but it will be progressive and take the Discovery marque forward.
Im still a little unsure on what or when the new D4 replacement will be, but looking at this, thats the one I want. Sign me up now!
I had been thinking of trading up the D3 to a D4 this year... but seeing this might make me hold off a few years and try to be first at D5 launch... better start saving and in the meantime, Disco_Mikey can keep the D3 in good condition.

That is absolutely awful, what are they doing?
I agree entirely, quite like some of the technology, but so much to go wrong.
I anticipate that I will be buying one of the last D4s, hopefully at a large discount, when the new object is on the forecourts.

I'll sell you mine, it'll only be 6 months old by then, low mileage, great spec - not too sure about the large discount though My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

Sorry to disagree with some but I'll take bets that there ain't gonna be much change when it goes into production
Partnered with virgin galactic - really ???
Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic: why is it stratospherically off schedule?
Biographer Tom Bower claims that the Virgin rocket may never be powerful enough to take people into space. Clearly, building a new kind of space ship is more fiddly than Branson thought
Can't you just check it on the … Wait, it's 10 years. Definitely. It was founded by Richard Branson in 2004. It has built a kind of flying catamaran that releases a rocket full of paying customers that roars up to the edge of space before gliding back down again. Or will do when it's ready. Around 580 people have so far paid more than £42m in deposits.
I see. And how's it all going? Oh, brilliantly. The company is right on target to launch its first proper flight some time in 2007.
We've already had 2007. That's when the iPhone was launched. Oh, sorry. Brief technical hitch. Building a new kind of space ship is quite fiddly, you know. The target is now 2009 instead.
That was five years ago. Obama sworn in as president. Oh, right. Apologies again. How about 2010?
Vuvuzelas. Look, is this thing ever going to launch? Well, the company has also predicted that it will get going in 2011, 2012 and 2013. So now that it's 2014, the launch must definitely be around the corner, right? Branson even "confirmed" that they are "just three months away from having a fully functioning rocket that is capable of taking passengers".
Splendid. When exactly did he confirm that? Just over three months ago.
I see. But look, they've just released a new video of a test flight! The rocket reached supersonic speeds for the third time and hit 71,000ft, its highest ever altitude!
And that's in space, is it? No.
Is it nearly in space? No. It's in the lowish stratosphere, just over half the height that Felix Baumgartner managed in a balloon. "With each flight test, we are progressively closer to our target of starting commercial service in 2014," said CEO George Whitesides.
Some people would say that after the first five or six misses it's not a target any more.Illegitimi Non Carborundum

I wouldn't have a problem if it doesn't change too much. Again, the LRX concept and the Evoque were very close in appearance. Unless they get the pricing badly wrong, I think it will be another successful chapter in JLRs book. Change is always going to be contentious but as had been said elsewhere on here, the D3 was reviled by many for looking too much like a transit etc and as Nick (TLO) says, it became an iconic design. This is just the next phase of evolution. The car is luxurious, comfortable, swift, smooth, (more) economical AND has great off road ability and the versatility we love ... and that's just the D3/D4 ..... the new one WILL be an improvement if recent efforts and trends continue - seriously, what's not to like?
