Off the top of my head i'd budget around £750 inc lab. Other option is to have a look at new site sponsors Metal Monsters & see what they have in stock for a used one, may help keep the costs down. If not able to fit yourself then a post in the Members Services section may help you find someone locally or a recommendationPaul.

You can buy a new Hitachi compressor from MPS 4x4 for £395 and a new bracket, if needed, from Ribble Valley 4x4 for £60. It's then a straight swap without any need for re-programming.Darren

I also went for the D4 type with upgrade software and relay. £620 all in i think at a local indie. I plan to keep the disco a fair while so thought it was worth the investment now rather rebuilding the existing unit.
I heard, not sure how true it is, that the AMK unit runs at a lower duty cycle?? so should aid in the lifespan of the pump.

Draws slightly less amps, has a smoother start-up, runs at a lower duty cycle and produces less heat. The revised vehicle software also holds the air pressure to a slightly lower value.
Not seen service parts for it though, which is a bit of a concern.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Hi all,
Just got down to Italy for work purposes with my new D3 and after 3 weeks.... Boing.... all the usual crap with the Suspension.... Slow speed adjusting..... will do it when system cooled etc....
Thank God I am working with Italians who are Bi Lingual. Id have no idea where to start with my limited Italian.... Got the D3 into the local LR dealer to whack it on Diagnostic.... New Compressor.... Before taking it in I trawled through the forums and found so many people replacing 2/3 compressors in 18months.... notified the dealer of this when they told me I'd need a new one and through my translator they very openly told me that the previous compressors (Hitachi) were well known for failing very quickly and LR Italy have secured new compressors with a company called MA or something.... A nice little bit of bargaining info for someone I should Imagine.... Fingers crossed it all gets sorted! and no more troubles!!!

Found leaks on the two red/blue connections to the dryer lid, pushed back the collars and pulled out the pipes, smeared them with liquid ptfe and pushed them back in. Still leaking... Any suggestions? New lid I suppose? I can't see any cracks put the copper in the lid is corroded and I guess this breaks the seal.

Do a search for Landyair. They do service kits that include a new lid and silica. The instructions are not brilliant. Send me a PM if you decide to do it. Get the three captive nuts that hold the dryer in place before you start.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Aha!! Perfect, thank you. Their website says if can be done without removing the compressor, the less I remove the better as it's all pretty corroded up in there. Would u agree? Getting the beads up into it is gonna be tricky.

Landyair's dryer cap worked very nicely. Found the hairline crack on the old one but connector pipes were well corroded so was happy to have the new cap rather than repair the old one. £49 job done without a lift in 30mins (excluding hours researching it first, while she was watching I'm a celebrity.... so no loss )
