Diagnostics will cost anything from £30 to £100 depending on who does it, I would looking at paying £30 to get the codes read.
Thanks for the heads up on that cost.. I know what to expect if I need to go down that route.. Pete

Pete, I had the same as you. Don't go down the new compressor route yet unless your numbers have come up in the lottery . Check the simple things 1st as Discomickey has explained. My problem was actually air leaking from the the blue pipe fitting on the air dryer cover. Less than £50 from Landyair for a new cover & an hour of your time . No need to take compressor off if this is the problem. Not too technical a job. Hopefully this is your problem as it's the cheapest to fix

Ive recently acquired this problem as well, I have a long trip to do next week (Southampton to North Wales) and am getting a bit nervous if I am doing any damage to the car driving it with this intermittent fault. Dont have time to get it fixed by a garage before I go!
It always starts fine, no fault and then I drive up the road and sometimes it doesnt come on but other times I just turn a corner and it comes on - doesnt seem to be any pattern to it.

Had a look at another suspension fault today. Split dryer
The suspension will still go up and down OK, as there is only 10-11 bar or so of pressure in the airbags. Once it is upto its required height, the valves close, and the compressor then tries to fill the reservoir to 18bar.
Due to the leak, it may or may not reach its 18bar. If it does, it will be fine. If it doesn't, it will bring the light on, along with the code C1A20-64

Been there, done that. I had the same warning light which always went off if I re-started the engine, then came on some time layer. Disco_Mikey diagnosed a leak from the air dryer and fitted a replacement (The old one had a hairline crack between the air connections which I could barely see) but all is now well. Top job from a top bloke - happy days!
Had this in January, hairline crack between the two connections caused pump to run too long and then normal height only.
Araldite both sides cured it. Sopay water over air lines going into dryer case make it an easy diagnosis if that's what it isTony

Right....I know it's been a few days since I started this thread, but I've only just had a chance to play this evening!
Took off the compressor cover to expose the pump.
As Mikey suggested, I sprayed some fairy liquid and water solution onto the air pipes and fired her up.
Soon to be seen were bubbles coming from the pipe with the red/orange ring into the drier unit. Wiggled both the pipes to find the blue is reasonably stiff, but the red has lots of play as did the ring.
Compressor operates fine.
The question I pose now is what next.... and how to do it
What's the procedure to remove the drier and replace the seal kit?
Can I just change the drier cap and simply plug in the air pipes?
Where is best to get these bits from?
Thanking you kindly..Pete

Get the vehicle on ramps, follow the instructions elsewhere in here on how to remove (a 10mm ratchet spanner is a great help), remove the compressor, then undo the drier from the frame and pump, undo the drier body and empty out the silica (sieve off the powder and bake the rest in the oven until it goes blue) and then araldite the gap between the two pipes connection on the top of the drier on both sides.
Once dry, rebuild and refit. Ideally use liquid PTFE on the air connections when u refit. Other than skinned knuckles getting the pump on and off, it costs you nothing. Did mine over Xmas, still running today and have put off the £450 for a new pump for a while
If you have a bench and tools you can refurb it for less than £100, although I struggled to get the pump apart so left it.
When I find the relevant links I'll put them up, but search under +air +compressor +removal etc to find the how to's. Its not difficult. I'm no mechanic and managed it.

Bubbles!
Morning all! Had the dreaded light on since I bought the car. Fell upon this post and decided to have a go, dry day and sell that.
I have bubbles! Can't see a fracture but suppose I will have to take the unit off go see that. Am I best just changing the end? And if so do I need to change the silica?
Had a good fiddle with the pipes and just done a 10 mile journey with no light until i pulled onto my drive!
Cheers

If you have suitable silica just change it, if not sieve out the dust and then place the rest on a baking tray and put in the oven for an hour or two until it goes blue/hard. Then return to the unit.Tony
