Sorry for the spelling on my last post! That's what you get for posting on the iphone and not reading what you have written!
Looks perfect for a van haha great pictures! I Was planning on cutting a piece of ply or Mdf to the shape of the back, so I can slide it in when I use it for work, this way it will protect it a bit!
Discoed, this is the reason I want a manual, I'm not a biggest fan of driving as it is! So like to have something to keep me going! Ha

Thanks Steve, I will make sure I check those things when test driving any, I'm holding out for a bit till the summer, hoping they might drop a little in price, when this weather decides to stop!

Moo, how did your D3 get through the MoT with a DeCat pipe?
Steve
It just did. It has a large rock / sump guard underneath so maybe it was hidden.

Sensible plan - I have some 13mm wbp over my load area but, to stop stuff sliding around too much, also invested in a roll of heavy duty dimpled rubber matting (1.2m wide) which I've cut to size so it also protects the tailgate when it is folded down. The length in the picture has been abused for c. 16months and, whilst the section which covers the tailgate may have split down the centre, the rest of it is still in once piece despite some very awkward and heavy loads having been carried Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

My 05 manual is on 92k on it's first clutch (and I tow with it) and I wouldn't dream of having an auto - I like driving too much
I did say average, there are some go at rediculously low milages, I only replaced mine at 82k as the engine was out and the release bearing was shot. So obviously there will be some last longer Joined the BMWX5 45e group

You won't hear me say this in any other context - ignore Robbie
Get a manual - more fun than an 'old man' auto

don't get a manual - get an Auto
or
don't get an auto - get a manual
either option is whats best for you.
there is only one way to find out which one you prefer, and that is to drive both and decided which suits you best.
personally I prefer the auto - and I always said I wound never drive an auto, or a diesel !! Duncan

If you could stretch to the 2007MY Disco, you'd get the additional clutch protection software in the ECU, just for peace of mind when towing, etc.

Thanks mate, only reason going for below that is because I want the lower tax, as it won't be a daily drive, more of a weekend car! I only do about 3-4k a year as have another car. Don't fancy £500 a year for that reason lol

Hi
My 2004 manual SE model is on its original clutch at 152k miles and still going strong! I tow a 1600kg caravan with it and apart from the alternator packign up I've had no problems!
I tried an auto and a manual before making up my mind so would recommend you do the same. Also one I tried had coils but I prefered the ride of the air suspension.
I love the fact the seats all fold flat and I have more space than my mates van and I'm allowed into the tip fully loaded with a trailer!!
I just couldnt get on with the auto.
I chose mine cos of the lower tax bracket too. If memory serves anything registered before 22nd March 2006 is the lower tax bracket.
