Hi All,
Tow hitch is setup and being tested for rating of 3499kg. We will have retail prices very soon, looking in the vacinity of $380-440 AUD depending on testing and engineering certification costs, which looks like being about 10 grand, OUCH.
We are hoping that you LR enthusiasts are going to order lots of units to help us recoup some costs......
I am concerned that if we don't have some further enthusiasm and or pre-orders, we will not be able to carry all the risk and these fantastic ideas that has collaborated into this simple, functional design will fall over and no-one will benefit.
If anyone is serious about this tow hitch please PM, call or email so I can gauge interest and help keep me enthusiastic about pushing on.
Thank you,
Aaron Mitchell

whilst on hols around Ayers Rock thru to Alice Springs, several people enquired as to my tow hitch set up for the camper and one bloke was thinking of buying a D3 but was unconvinced with the current hitch. one person knew of the site and the others did not but were told of the efforts and to look on here so there definitely seems to be a market for this unit even outside the forum. stick with it as the price you stated seems fair and reasonable to me. would like to see an unbolted unit though.

Looks good to me. If I can slot in my hitch for my camper and boat, plus tow chains - i'm in. I think the price is fair too. 2006 HSE TDV6 Bonatti Grey, ECB bull bar, tropical roof, LG Next G car kit, Tom Tom GPS, UHF, Mitchell Bros tow bar, Kimberley Kamper Limited Edition camper trailer and 23 foot Haines Signature half cabin (Towed separately!)

The price was less than I was expecting. but to keep this price he will factor in more units need to be sold.
I have posted on the RRS forum as should fit a RRS as well.
Anyone on th AULRO forum?
Could you post some photos and link there to guage interest? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

My only question is whether it will take wieght distribution hitches (from HR). As I do not have any adjustable suspension (S model) I need to use the hiches to even out the load.

Went to 4x4 show today, HR say they have completed the D3 hitch receiver and it is now available. I think he said it was $600 or $650. He didn't have any real details but said he would send details and photos to me tonight.

I look forward to seeing the photos. It could be the first one they developed wihich replaces the standard Discovery receiver and will take wd hitches, but is at the same height as the Discovery plough.
Cheers

Hi All,
Quick update, goods are with the engineer and being tested, we have received only a few orders to supply once certified.
We still need more orders to justify an initial production run.
Commercial contacts removed
Thank you to all who have preordered.

Hi all,
Quick update.
Engineer is prepared to sign off on the design and has given us the GO AHEAD with first production run.
This is GOOD NEWS.
We still want more pre-orders to justify a decent initial production run and to keep the costs low as indicated.

Hi CW
I am sure Aaron will ask the engineer.
Also Aaron check if it wuill work with a WDH.
I am not sure if the engineer will be willing to go over LR figures.
It is difficult to define off-road. Does it mean unsealed roads, fire trails or rock hopping. Taking 3.5 tonne rock hopping then claiming it was rated for 3.5 tonneoff road may be stretching the intention. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I have spoken to the engineer,
It is his opinion that it will work with weight distribution setup.
The bar will be rated to 3500kg in any situation.

ZJED - I believe the HR unit they have in production is the original unit - a big bar under the bumper - still quiet low, and protruding to the rear. It is HR proven though, and engineerd etc, but deigned more for towing large vans touring, rather than maintaining departure angles and off-road use...
See http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/displayima...&pos=8 - I beleive this is the one they've put into productoion so far.
Aaron - can we see a pic pls of the unit off the car? And a description of how it attaches - how easy to remove?
Thanks,
