How Many Fault Codes!!
Hi
I was wondering if some of the more experienced guys could shed any light on the codes I have had read today (apologies for the handwritten notes - but the guy had issues with the printer so he wrote them all down for me).
The reason I was getting the codes read, was that I had the Normal Height Only fault on the dash with the orange vehicle and arrow emblem displayed. It was not on continuous, but it has happened a couple of times since Sunday afternoon.
If I understand correctly - the U codes are nothing to worry about, but there are quite a few listed, which I do not know how long they have been in the system.
I assume the suspension issue is linked to the rear solenoid potentially?
Kind regards
Jay

You appear to have posted the same list twice, I don't see any mention of a rear solenoid.GAP IID Pro Multi Vehicle Defender L316 2007-2015 - Discovery 3 - Discovery 4 - Discovery Sport L550 - Freelander 2 - Range Rover Evoque L538 - Range Rover L322 - Range Rover L405 - Range Rover Sport L320 - Range Rover Sport L494 Electrical Fault Diagnostics

Knowing the milage when each code was triggered would have helped. If they were all at the same point or grouped into a few points then you could look for common causes.
To be honest when faced with such a list I would zap them all and drive again to see what comes up again.

Hi Robbie
Firstly thanks for taking the time to reply to this one - I know it is a needle in a haystack kind of question.
History: I was told there were no codes when I bought the vehicle, but I would not hold my breath on that one if I am honest.
The car has covered 78k miles (6.5K miles since we have had it).
The car has displayed the ride height error a couple of times since Sunday (when we were loading something in the boot) - the last time was this evening when I took my daughter to the stables.
If I try to raise or lower the suspension when the fault is not displayed - it goes straight into fault and normal height only is activated.
Also, I do not think the garage calibrated the steering angle sensor after aligning the 4 wheels - so this also needs doing potentially.
All the codes are now removed from the system (I actually stood with the guy in the garage when he did this - so i know I saw all the readouts go to zero faults, so I am just about to order a fault code reader as I am not keen on paying £50 every time I need codes read.
Kind regards
Jay

You don't have a location on your profile but there is always the chance that a member can read your codes. I do this for those in my area for the dizzy price of nothing.

Hi Robbie
I have just been reading about that - so I will have a look tomorrow to see what that throws up.

One additional question - if I remove the electrical plug from the rear sensor, do I need to have it re-programed if I clean the contacts etc?

Hi Robbie
4x4 screen shows nothing abnormal when the suspension icon is displayed on the dash:

Ok so far so good. What about in access mode and off-road mode?
Disconnecting and reconnecting the height sensor will not disturb the calibration, but best to do it with no power applied.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Hi Robbie
No, I get the same message every time on the dash.
Or are you referring to the 4x4 screen as I have not checked that?

How about raising the chassis with a jack? This should cause the height sensor to register a change in height on the 4x4 info screen and indicate whether or not the sensor is working. Then move on to the solenoid valves and test the wiring.GAP IID Pro Multi Vehicle Defender L316 2007-2015 - Discovery 3 - Discovery 4 - Discovery Sport L550 - Freelander 2 - Range Rover Evoque L538 - Range Rover L322 - Range Rover L405 - Range Rover Sport L320 - Range Rover Sport L494 Electrical Fault Diagnostics

Yep, looking for what the 4x4 screen shows with up and down switch selections. Allan's advice would be the next step.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
