What actually constitutes a recall ... Question surely a blown engine at 70 in the outside line is dangerous Shocked
Totally agree.... I did not really expect to get any money back from Landrover - it was just such a disappointing conversation with customer services! Really "off hand" and casual - as if I was complaining that the badge had fallen off the grill!
I suppose one day one will fail at 70mph on the M6 - a seized engine at that speed would be interesting...and maybe fatal. 2007 Base D3 - Buckingham Blue

I was doing about 60 when mine broke. Luckily on a dual carriageway with hardly any traffic. 2 minutes earlier and I'd have still been on the m1..... Bodsys Brake Bible

thanks, although I have to be honest, the issue is really very clear:-
Weak Oil Pump Case, redesigned 3 times (so 4 versions). Normal running stress from the timing belt onto the tensioner causes the earlier casing to break.
LandRover deny its a problem although evidence is on here to the contrary and some people are lucky in getting a 100% contribution from LR, others are not so lucky and get nothing! Bodsys Brake Bible

I'm getting diddly for mine !
What i did throw back at them was WHEN mine goes it will no doubt be somewhere on the M1 / A1 as 95% of my driving is up and down to London,
That.........
Any car traveling behind me can expect their windscreen to be covered in Oil ! AND i tried to throw in the envioronmental issue of 6 Litres of Oil on the carriageway, plus the Dangerous, Skidding, Death thing etc etc !
No one seems that bothered about Death so i thought i'd force the Green issue when my Mrs reminded me that if they were that bothered about the envioronment they wouldnt be making cars that did 20 MPG !
Its actually quite un nerving doing 70MPH when you know something major could occur
Bodsy, If i Die when it all locks up I'd like a Black LR Logo On my Coffin ! The green ones look $h!t Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Have you also noticed that it is the usual suspects?
You'd think from the demographics of Discovery owners that they could afford a tenner to try and resolve a serious issue that the manufacturer has ignored.

There are the usual suspects that are posting on the thread, but looking at the sign up, there's many people that do not participate as actively as some, but have still signed up, which I think is great. The more the merrier of course. Bodsys Brake Bible
