Yes, disconnect the battery, and hold the car battery terminals together for a few seconds, you will need a length of wire or a long screw driver to do it, Do not let the battery + or - touch. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Have you snagged the can bus wiring around the wheel arch? Are you running standard sized tyres?Club Exped trailer

Hard reset done. No difference, well there is. The dash lights are now on as soon as the ign is turned on, rather than waiting for the wheel to be turned.
Looks like a trip to an indie and see what their gizmo machine says. Unless anyone is passing through Brizzle this week???HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Yes, standard everything. 18" wheels been run for the last 2 yrs. Only ran 19" for 6 months before that with no issues. Not had a look for broken wires yet. Been a bit to cold to be crawling around under the carHONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

If all else fails.. change the rear brake light bulbs... fixes most things
Seriously, I had a similar issue when we changed the front arms and the only thing that fixed it was a complete 4 wheel alinement at the nearest tyre place with the right machine... quite why it would suddenly happen though is a mystery
If you do go LED those bulbs do the strangest of things when they go wrong....Mark

Nothing heard from Steve but it's going into the workshop to be hooked up to the computor. Hope it's a simple cheap easy fix.
Then we can get it sold and downsize, SWMBO can't get on with it, so it has to go HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Just had a call from Steve Hill. Needs a new steering comulmn.
5 mins later had a call from Warranty Direct, to talk about my claim. Happy days it's covered. So getting sorted, thank god.
Steve reckoned the part alone was over £500 +VAT.HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Well it's ready, but I can't force myself to go and collect it today and part with £1K. I know I'll get it back but it's a bitter pil to swallow.
Will update the exact problem when I go tomorrow to collect.HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Its now back on my drive. I'm now 1K lighter until WD send some money over.
The problem is, there is a plastic bush on the bottom of the column, when you steer it knows which way the wheels are pointing and by how much. This plastic collar is only an interference fit and it slipped, so the car didnt know what was going on so shut down all the special programs to stop me killing myself.
And surprise surprise the plastic collar is not available separately. So its over £500 for new parts.
Steve hill has only changed 1 column before mine, so its not a common problem but my D3 has only done 61K miles so not exactly a used and abused D3.HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

That's strange Mark, I have known of the steering angle sensor fail SRO500110 £164+vat, causing symptom like yours, but not heard of a complete column. The sensor slides onto the column.
