Can you open sunroof manually?

As above, our roof has not worked since we bought car, I have recently cut the ends off the drain tubes but rear are still blocked, I need to blow some air down the pipes and don't have time to drop the lining again.
I have tried the reset procedure several times and after an ecu reset but still no joy

Good question this..

All the vehicle I have had (besides my D3) had a method of hand cranking the sun roof open or closed...

A component failure should register a DTC ...maybe someone with a faultmate could check for you Confused

Quote:
B10F2-93 Sunroof Control - No operation

Roof opening panel control module power or ground circuit open circuit, high resistance
LIN bus 3 circuit short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and test the roof opening panel control module power and ground circuits for open circuit, high resistance

Quote:
B10F2-9A Sunroof Control - Component or system operating conditions
NOTE: This DTC may be set if the roof opening panel is operated excessively

Roof opening panel motor time out
Allow the roof opening panel motor to cool. Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, clear the DTCs and retest

Also

Quote:
There is no emergency key access in the headlining for manual sunroof operation should the motor fail for any reason.

Thanks people, I will try another ecu reset and a few roof resets, if not I will drop the lining a bit and blow out the tubes. Will get the roof looked at in more depth when it's having some other bits done.

Unless I am mixing up my car repairs I am pretty sure I have triggered a D3 sunroof to open in the past!

Open the middle panel to access the control module and ground pin 6. As long as you have power available this will give you control of the sunroof.

Warning - you will have power for as long as pin 6 in grounded so if left connected it will drain the battery and it also overrides all the anti-trap protection.

Pin 6 in the SCM Rob ? Smile

Quote:
Pin 6 is for use in an emergency only in the event of the vehicle LIN bus not being functional. It is not connected on the vehicle harness or in the connector.

notePutting pin 6 to ground will enable the sunroof control module but without one touch operation or anti trap. The sunroof will not require re-calibrating unless the battery has been disconnected.

noteThe sunroof control module will remain awake and enabled until pin 6 is disconnected again. Under no circumstances is this pin to be left grounded for long periods.

Some more DTC info

Quote:
B10F2-4B Sunroof Control - Over temperature
Roof opening panel movement restricted by debris or damage
Roof opening panel temperature sensor not calibrated/defective
Test the roof opening panel for smooth operation. If the fault persists, install a new roof opening panel control module
Install a new roof opening panel motor as necessary

B10F2-74 Sunroof Control - Actuator slipping
Roof opening panel control motor slipping due to mechanical failure
Remove the roof opening panel motor and inspect the cables and mechanism. Test the roof opening panel for smooth operation and obstructions that would cause the motor to slip. Install a new roof opening panel motor as necessary

B10F2-93 Sunroof Control - No operation
Roof opening panel control module power or ground circuit open circuit, high resistance
LIN bus 3 circuit short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance
Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and test the roof opening panel control module power and ground circuits for open circuit, high resistance
Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and test the LIN bus 3 circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance

B10F2-9A Sunroof Control - Component or system operating conditions
noteNOTE: This DTC may be set if the roof opening panel is operated excessively
Roof opening panel motor time out
Allow the roof opening panel motor to cool. Using the manufacturer approved diagnostic system, clear the DTCs and retest

Thanks Rich as I was just editing my post on checking that pin 6 was indeed the correct one to pull to ground.
