Strata Florida, Happy Valley and Bala Forest.

At the end of June me and a friend are going to Wales for 2 days, possibly 3. The plan is to do 2 full days laning with camping thrown in the middle.

I want to do Strata Florida, Happy Valley and Bala Forest.

Can anyone tell me what 1:25,000 explorer map covers all the lanes? It looks like a few, Ol23 and OL18 and 235.
Could you do all 3 areas in 2 days?

I have seen a video of Bala forest, is it legal? It just looks like mud tracks through a forest!!

Water, scrapes and bangs are all fine. I sold the D3 for a Mondeo and have just sold the motorbike for a D1 which has a lift kit, snorkel and all the underside protection.

Strata can take you a good day in itself with its connecting lanes, just be mindful they've shut the lane now down towards claernwen reservoir... Big Cry

Why not make a couple of days of that area and do the run of lanes almost in parallel with Strata north of hay on Wye like Black Yatt, Giants Grave etc some stunning views and all I would have no problem taking my D4 down, just might have to straddle some ruts rather than getting the lower arms bogged down.

As regards Bala forest, in my mind apart from the odd forest trail that's a byway it's all private land and only available through the Land Craft adventure drives.

How does one go about getting Trailwise info as they have Black Yatt in their catalogue?

Do i need to be a member of Glass etc?

If a D2 can do it then the D3/4 will make it look easy Laughing

Its fair enough, when this forum first started alot of posts were about offroading and there was alot of trips out to play day sites, it soon became apparent that the D3 is a very clever offroader and in the right hands would easily follow a defender that was in standard form. As the bling has increased and price has gone up the average owner type is changing and unfortunately a high percentage haven't ( can't blame them) used their Disco to its full potential i.e got it stuck Laughing

That was me in the silver D3. The bomb hole was as easy as it looked. The car is amazing and as long as you take it easy it'll do most things you throw at it.

Whats the point in buying them if you don't use them to their full potential?? Laughing
