Just wanted to clear up some confusion surrounding the turbochip upgrade for the Discovery 3 TDV6
+ 50bhp + 120lbft torque
Cost £595 + vat
Modification is diagnostic with ecu removed from the car
We are working on an OBD solution as we speak but it is realistically 6-9 months away due to the amount of ecu security on the car ;-(
Members are welcome to email me for technical advice and guidance.
To date we modified 37 TDV6's all at dealer premises on brand new cars
Average fuel economy has increased from 23mpg to 29mpg and the car just gets better and better with distance

And how does this effect the warranty on the car ?
Also what are the ramifications to engine life, wear etc etc ?

We do not anticipate any engine wear problems as long as users regularly maintain the vehicles. I'd suggest mid-service oil and filter changes as a precautionary measure. We've had no issues with overheating, oil consumption or any other related matter

Can you please confirm whether or not this modification is approved by Land Rover under their warranty conditions? 2005 TDV6 SE Silver/Black Manual + Alpine

No, the converison is not currently approved by Landrover but it is completely undetectable to all LR diagnostic equipment.
What the eye cannot see...(or the PC cannot communicate with)...there would not be any problems unless an owner was foolish enough to disclose the modification to an 'unfriendly' dealer.

maybe all us regular forum posters should get a 'test' upgrade and help promote the invisible upgrade ??
Or maybe they should give Martin some sponsorship or even and upgraded D3 to long term test for running this excellent site !!

Sorry I'm not techie - what does this mean in English? Also your website says 230bhp, surely that is a 40bhp increase not 50?

Since we 1st developed this conversion in November 2004 we have 'moved on' and we now upgrade all TDV6's with +50bhp
Dont believe everything you read on websites....I'll get my web guy to change the figures asap
Sorry for the technical talk but in plain english we do hope to be able to communicate with the car via the On board diagnostic (OBD) port that dealers use when servicing the car

No D3s have come on sale in Australia yet so I am still running a chipped Td5. In my case the chipping lifts torque to a bit above the V8 levels and thus I have assumed it does not stress the gearbox and drive all that much more. However with D3 the Tdv6 torque already exceeds the V8 so how close to the gearbox limits are we?

From my sources at Landrover I suspect the gearbox is more than able to handle at least an additional 150Nm
No one knows the long term reliability of the engines standard or tuned but we have run the engine at ridiculously high power levels and then had the oil analysed without any cause for concern.
Its and incredibly strong engine

A colleagues son showed me a magazine article yesterday about another company chipping DS3's, less power and torque, (I can't remember the exact figures) and they wanted over £900 The company was something like DMC.
