Expo Roof Rack
I am going to get a real expedition roof rack as I’m fed up with the toy town L R one thats fitted to my D3.
I have contacted Treckoverland and Patirot. Do you good people know of any other manufactures?

Land Rover roof rails
Andrew - a word of warning - check that the roof rack you select is 100% compatible with the Land Rover roof rails, or alternatively have the roof rack manufacturer install their own roof rails.
The LR rails are very flexible compared to other stuff available, and I managed to snap one of the fixing bolts and a lot of the roofrack brackets during my recent trip.
Granted, we were overloaded, and travelling on the worst corrugated roads I have ever experienced, but a friend with the same vehicle, same tyres, same rack and even more load had no problems at all, and the only difference was the rails.

Oh, and locally we have a company called "front runner" but I don't know if they sell in the UK or not. I can certainly vouch for their racks and their advice

Thanks Baben
I will only fit a rack that will be fixed directly to the vehicle using the runners either side of the car. In other words I will not use any of the L R fixing accessories. I'm seriously thinking of making my own.

Hi Andrew
What I mean is what you refer to as the runners is what caused problems for me. You should get something stronger, and put the LR parts away till you sell the vehicle. The LR rails/runners are attached to the vehicle with 3 bolts each side, and the only contact they have with the vehicle is the 3 small points of fixture.
Front Runner fitted their own rails/runners using their own spacers to spread the load over at least 10x the area.
I also have an LR expedition rack wasting away in my garage...
