If the pre-face lift xenons are fitted to a 2012MY, will that give fairy light DRL's and halogen full beam then?
That's what I did and the lights are a HUUGE improvement on the halogens only. Was almost plug and play with only a small change needed to the vehicle's CCF carried out courtesy of my IID tool. I also modded my second hand new lights to have cornering lights but not sure why I bothered.
Sadly, I also like the look of the fairy lights DRLs.D1 300Tdi - gone

Fairy DRLs no - the led lights on these light clusters are side lights only - if DRL is enabled then it actually will use the Xenons i believe.

on my MY2012. Well I call them DRLs. I've enabled Swedish or Canadian mode or something, and the fairy light LEDs come on with the engine. Def not the Xenons.D1 300Tdi - gone

but the fairy light LEDs has no power enough.
On my past 2011 D4 with DRL on, at the engine run, the xenon also came on (Swedish settings)Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

is there a recognised power range for DRLs ? i think they are only regulated regarding whether thay make the indicators less obvious ... so they should dim or extinguish if they are directly adjacent to the indicator.
the fairy lights are spread across the whole light unit so whilst, I believe, bright enough collectively to be DRLs they do not mask the indicator.

Any idea where to find the threads?

they do, that's why I did it
You'll need an extra couple of relays if you want the full beam flash to work, but there's a few threads on that
Really need help with this problem guys?

Re: So does it just need a relay to make my lights flash

the old units have two light sources, the new units are single source with a flap inside
If you just plug and play the flash and full beam works fine - but only if the main beam is already on. You'll hear the relay trigger the flap and the full beam icon will come on the dash, but nothing will happen up front.
The extra relay is needed to trigger the actual light source
I was caught out by it to, but after someone else pointed it out there are a few threads covering it... including mine I think
