I thought the loading height was actually lower as it can be lowered further for better access.

I have measured it - the very lowest height that it's possible to lower the boot to in the 5 is exactly the same height as the 4 is before the 4's suspension is lowered!

LR forgot to mention that when they were telling us all about this fabulous new feature Sad

We've moved on a bit from that.....

To many on here important as the next step or the eventual replacement vehicle....many thought would be an incremental improvement on what needs to be improved as opposed to a step change to a different genre.....
It's not only about load hieght but the actual volume & the proportions of this.
Hugely important to those who need & use this feature......the U in utility.

Most vehicle makers alter the details of a model - to take existing customers with them whilst attracting new ones + have a differentiated range in terms of size, features & prices

I know. Having sat in it & had a long look around.

I disagree with ALL your points.

fair enough - if it suits you.
It doesn't (& wont) serve my current or future needs.
it isn't an incremental improvement, its in a price bracket that isn't justified (in comparison to where the original D3 sat in comparison to FFR, RRS & many other makers offerings.
I looked & considered all before making my choice.

The price was always going to go up due to its new aluminium construction.

But my entry level D3 was less than £30k but my entry level D4 was £42k before options and entry level D5 is less than £44k, granted it only has 2.0 engine, so has the price really went up that much?

Yes.

I measured it' at least 1 1/2 inches lower than MY D4 when fully lowered. ( my figures )

That why Landrover say it. If not I'm sure the press would pick them up for lying.

I also have more of my own measurements.

Most which show the D5 to have bigger load area (important to me)

Hard to exactly compare but open boot D5 is wider.

Have not "published" my measurements because people on this forum, ridiculed me.

Now I wait the motoring press. Smile

So great car that the D4 is, it has a few niggles that I would like to see improved on the D5.

No particular order of relevance, except no1. Thumbs Up

1: To be able to drive through a puddle without an avalanche of water hitting the windscreen and obscuring your view. Yes could drive much slower but when the wifes Swift can cope with much deeper puddles at sensible speeds and still not throw all the water onto your screen, surley we can expect a true 4x4 to cope with handling such hazards.

Your wife's swift is able to stop the "avalanche of water hitting the windscreen and obscuring your view" because it has a very low front valance. All water that is driven upwards and forwards by the front wheels, which is able to escape the wheel arches, hits the inside of the front valance, it then falls to the ground again.

On a proper off roader, such as yours, there is a great deal of clearance under the front valance. This allows forward splashing water to pass underneath, it is then driven back by wind pressure and much of it is driven on to the bonnet and windscreen. To help out, Land Rover fit plastic spats under the front valance; these compromise ground clearance, but catch some of this water (my spats live in the garage, which is where they really should reside!).

A "true 4x4" should behave this way, fake ones and road cars are unlikely to.

I have removed said plastic spats to see difference none made the water comes up and over from side, have also tried hanging rubber flaps at front similat to those fitted on lorries, no improvment.

Shoguns dont do it! well its nearly a true 4x4 Very Happy

What possible use are these chairs providing ?
For the rare time they will or may be used....they will just take up the already compromised space.....

The rest of the list are to me just wishes.....not actual needs for me

I certainly would use these on a regular basis, would help with back ache when sat for long periods on tailgate and certainly many in the equestrian world would find them a useful addition, not really a crit just a wishful thinking.

Ok slow on the uptake Whistle though my thoughts relate to the present modeland my percieved short fallings. Have not seen the dream / nightmare yet and havent studied it in depth, but some issues looked to have been improved, so my previous memo to Posh must of been acted upon Very Happy
