we took the grill off of one of the D4s at the Canary Wharf show, even if it physically fits it mounts differently so it won't stay there The End

Was that the narrow D4 grill (xenon's with LED's) or the one that squeezes between the old style headlights?

Not convinced there's a difference personally (we shall no doubt know one way or other when they're on general sale soon) but it was on an HSE with Xenons and LEDs

I read that all new cars from 2011 must have day time running lights so perhaps they will be standard than across range...

Thats what the blurb says... and common sense design wise would elude to.

Official Response from Land Rover

The Global Product team have confirmed from the exterior of the vehicle there is no difference between the Bi-Xenon / LED front headlights and the Halogen headlights.

The design and pattern is identical as the Halogen style still have the LED patterns they just do not have the bulbs or wiring connected to the headlights inside, also the dimensions and the settings in the grille are identical.

The only physical difference is when the lights are switched on.

All,

I hope this helps?

that's great - thanks for the info James

So now we have that solved and design cue common sense prevails Thumbs Up

But.....WTF has been going on in the LR press/marketing/web departments? Bearing in mind that these photoshopped D4s would have taken a long time to get perfect and then to integrate them into the site and the promotional literature......why did they bother? How could they make such a contradiction?

Well, I was unbelievably (for me) level headed and patient with all the non-believers.

I must drop in a see James one day I am passing up the A40 back to the sophistication of Shropshire and away from the crowded jungle of London.

Scrolling through my images on my pc, I came up with this from many months ago.
Wonder if this settles or adds to the confusion on lights and grill?
edited: just noticed response from James - for some reason 'new post' alerts didn't come through to me !!!

And for those really interested and with money to burn, there's always this aftermarket grill for the D3

...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

< ‘tis but a mere scratch …….. it’ll polish out.

We know that fenders are new for D4 and shorter
We know that the bonnet is still the same

RonP, that photo is from a mule D3/4 so doesn't realy counts i'd say?

Wait and see a few weeks lads. Whistle
