Another one on the recovery wagon
Unfortunately you may have heard this one before. Loud noise like the fan hitting the inside of the plastic shroud, but isn’t, few metres down the road cuts out, won’t turn over. P0341 fault code.
Is this the end? Wish me luck please...

Did it have the new design of oil pump fitted, do you know?

I don’t know, I suspect with it being 07 plate it was the weaker kind. joke really. I had intended to keep it as long as I could, but this is too short.

Confirmed oil pump tensioner failure.
With it failing whilst reverse parking is it likely to have caused less damage, and so potentially repairable?

It’s unlikely. However, I did one at work yesterday that cut out at a roundabout, that I put a belt on and it fired up fine 👍 tbh I think I was as surprised as the owner.

Thanks for the support and feedback everyone.
Here is diagnosis and parts list.
Labour
Removed engine compoments for inspection.
Found that the oil pump has failed causing the timing belt
tensioner to come adfift. (Damaged)
Requires fitting of the cambelt & oil pump.
Will require testing once oil pump & cambelt is fitted.
*Please note* we will not know if the internals of the
engine is damaged or any other parts are required
until we have fitted a new cambelt & oil pump.

that all sounds sensible as long as the engine has less than 160K on it.
If it has more, may as well consider a new engine at £4000 +vat + labour
