LandRover engine with 2 years warranty. (swapping all ancillaries over)

well I guess it depends on how much all of that will cost. (oil pump/belt & labour)

and/or whether you want to spend spend £4K+ to fix the car

The quote for the above is 1129 all in.
How do you go about ordering the engine from Land Rover?

Hello everyone, bit of an update.

The garage have replaced the oil pump and cam belt and got the engine running. However they are saying once the oil and filter were replaced and topped up the oil light is on. What could the cause of this be?
Cheers

Possibly incorrect pump fitment or as is more likely incorrect filter replacement, as from your post it appears to have happened after the filter change.

Apparently it sounded fine, they are re-checking filters and oil pump.

make sure the long 8mm bolts that go up from under the car into the oil pump are tight

Well here is the latest.

Still at the garage, engine runs fine aside from the oil pressure. The oil pump delivered and fitted was wrong somehow - didn't align. Correct pump fitted, full service carried out then oil light comes on. Garage checks through sumps, filters and pump fitting.

Oil pressure is 15 psi when cold, 7-8psi steady when warm. when at 3000 revs 15psi (I am informed it should be 30 at this engine speed)

My understanding is that it should stay 15psi at idle cold or warm.

The oil light comes on when warm. Prior to the oil pump failing the engine was very sightly tappy.

Difficulty is what to do. Live with it? For how long, and is it safe?

Replace engine?

Sell it as is?

I really appreciate the support and advice, thank you.

not sure on these engines, but going off previous cars I would expect 80+ psi from cold, falling to about 20 at idle when warm and 40ish at 3k.

sounds to me like either your bearings are shot or the pump is weak, or poorly fitted filter

According to Haynes, idle is 0.7bar, which is 10psi, and 3500revs warm should be 1.9bar or 27.6psi.

I think the pump and filter have been ruled out by the garage.

correct oil? pressure relief valve stuck? blocked strainer?

could still be a poorly fitted pump if its sucking air up into the system.

it's the 15psi at cold that is confusing me, I would expect alot more than that on a cold engine. unfortunatly my ideas are coming from older engines (mini's, 300tdi's ect) rather than all this electronicly controled stuff (im learning this as I go along).

Same figures in the workshop manual. I would assume both measurements at operating temperature

Engine oil pressure:
At idle 0.7 bar (70 kPa) (10 lb/in²)
At 3500 rev/min 1.9 bar (190kPa) (27.5 lb/ft²)
