Hi ,
New to the disco3 world ,first trip out with the caravan on the back fried the brakes.
Servo mod been done , no leaks , gonna put it down to old pads & worn discs .
New discs & pads ordered, let's hope this cures it.

Hello all,
Recently joined. I looked around at a few cars but in end bought one from HJM66 on the forum. Nice fella and happy with my purchase. It's a 2010 GS but with a nice spec - leather, harmon kardon, heated seats/windscreen, folding mirrors. I was put off with the pan roofs as heard they leak and have had trouble with sunroofs before on other cars..see below..
I will try and not be that guy that asks a load of newbie questions and will use the search. Sometimes it is just easier to ask though.
I also have a passion for old VWs - I have a Corrado VR6, Corrado 16v (will sell that one), Golf mk3 GTI 16v and a Golf Mk2 GTi 8v project. I know quite a lot about them and restore them myself apart from full resprays so if anyone else is into them and has questions do shout.
Cheers,

Matt here saying āhiā from sunny (for a change) Yorkshire. With a 3 year old plus new twins, I need a replacement for the Octavia that we donāt all really fit in. Options to fit 3 child seats across the back seem to be a 4M Q7, Merc X164/166 GL/GLS or an L319 Disco and having driven all of them canāt imagine having anything other than a D4.
In terms of cabin space/layout the Audi is the sensible choice and reviews all say how brilliantly it rides on air suspension, but to my mind it was really crashy. The Benz bounced all over the place. The Disco rides like my old 2004 XJ8 which was the most serene car Iāve ever had. It doesnāt handle as well but thatās unexpected given the extra weight and heightā¦ and if I do want some B-road hooning, my other car is a BMW M140i.
Despite everyone hereās best efforts to put me off, Iām just waiting for the right D4 to turn up ā Iād quite like an XXV but they appear to be silly money at the moment, and I need to save some money for mods and accessoriesā¦ and to swap the engine out for a supercharged AJ133 when it inevitably snaps itās crankshaft.
All the best
Matt

Welcome to all the new members of the forum and new/returning owners of the green oval.
Most of the guys on here are friendly (no names mentioned ) and knowledgeable about these beasts/wonderful cars/money swallowing pits (delete as appropriate) so don't be afraid to ask questions - can't comment on the quality of the answers though Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Hi and welcome
When you have it serviced you need to make sure the oil pump has been replaced with the new style pump, the old ones have a weakness in the casting where a timing belt idler attaches. They can fail at any moment and damage your engine beyond repair.
As far as the head unit goes it depends on which level stereo you have, look on the small speakers by the door mirrors.
If they have nothing on them you have a base system which can easily be changed to another head unit.
If it says Harman Kardon or Logic 7 it gets a bit more complicated as the head unit and the amp under the drivers seat communicate via fibre optics. If the system is working ok there is a touch screen unit that fits where the sat nav goes and connects to the original head unit via the aux socket. Use the search function its been covered many times. Andrew

Welcome Barborosevin,
I would like to reiterate what aja4X4 said about getting that oil pump checked and replaced to the new casting if it has not been done. I had the old style pump. It failed. Engine needed to be replaced as it was beyond repair. Very expensive.
Apart from that, i wish you many happy miles of motoring in what may of us believe to be one of the best 4x4s ever brought to market. Almost 400,000 km for us in comfort and style, all over Australia.
best wishes, Jeffoir. '97 D2 petrol V8 > '00 D2 petrol V8 > '02 D2 petrol V8 > '07 D3 TDV6 HSE > '13 D4 SDV6 HSE

Gooday
Well after a massive amount of research and procrastination I am now the proud owner of a Discovery 4 L319 TDV6.
Very impressed the resources available to owners of these vehicles, many thanks to those who contribute. Being a do it yourself maintainer of my vehicles those resources will be invaluable.
Main reason for the purchase is to provide a tow tug that is legally rated to tow my caravan so I can pursue my desire to escape the Tasmanian winters in the warmer climes of the mainland.
Hope everyone is enjoying a good one.

Hi to all
I have owned a Disco 3 since 2005 until ULEZ forced my hand and I bought a Disco 4 (HSE Lux) earlier this year. Iāve noticed that 2016 cars are now going for over Ā£40k!!. Iām sure I could resell mine at a healthy profit. The dealer I got it from, all his 2016 D4ās were more expensive than his 2017 D5ās.
Looking forward to this form helping me with minor routine maintenance in due course!
