Bought a Disco 3 - First time owner....be gentle!! |
|
Hi guys,
I've just bought my 1st Land Rover Discovery 3. It's a 56 plate with 141k miles on. The bodywork is immaculate and the previous owner has clearly spent a lot of money on it but had to sell due to the Birmingham clean air zone introduction.
As far as I can tell, recent additions include:-
- Wind Deflectors
- New Grabber tyres all rouund.
- New discs and pads all round.
- Re-furbished original wheels, re-powder coated etc....they're showroom fresh!
- Roof bars
- Few extra little trims here and there.
- Recent cambelt and new tensioner.
- Recent service (although no paperwork for this so I might do another one....air filter is clean though)
I'm keeping my fingers crossed but so long as nothing goes pop soon then I think I've got myself a decent bargain.
It had developed the dreaded parking brake fault but it was working fine through the test drive so I'm wondering if it's to do with the new brakes not being adjusted properly? I'm taking it to a local specialist to diagnose anyway.
Well....thought I'd say hello. I was looking through this site before registering and it's full of really knowledgeable and helpful members which gave me good confidence to buy the car. I'm sure I'll learn lots and share that knowledge with others in the future.
Cheers!
Bracey

Got 55 plate disco 3 hse which is giving me a headache at moment with some Xmas lights coming on dash so just purchased a gap iid tool, but not had time to open it yet and play. Anyway thanks and have a great day 👍🏻

Hello all,
This is my very first Land Rover, bought as a family car that can deal with whatever is thrown at it. Although high mileage, the previous owner really looked after it and I am very pleased with it.
I’m no mechanic but my son and I are keen to learn and maintain this car as well as possible. The previous owner recommended this site to me and I will undoubtedly have many questions for all you Landy experts!!

Hi All
Just obtained a 210 D4 GS as a more refined replacement for my 101 AMBI (Camper) and my 1986 110 ex military (daily driver/farm run around)
I hope to do a bit of off-roading and camping as well as using it for running around/towing and working out the back of it at home on the bit of land we own.
Glad to join what looks like a fantastic community on this site.
Phil

Hi, just wanted to know if anyone has replaced their disco3 with an alternative air suspension compressor to AMK. Besides the cheaper Chinese brands (£120/180) which I think I'll avoid, how reliable are the Dunlop & Arnott versions of the AMK. Presently I have the updated version of the AMK on my discovery 3 (2005). Are there any other recommendations that have had minimum issues after replacing the original, thanks.

Welcome to all the new members and those foolish enough to have joined the club of wallet-emptying and hair-loss by purchasing a Discovery
Prad916 - may I suggest you post your query in the Technical section of the forum as you are more likely to get a meaningful response in that section - Edit - just seen your post in the General Section - me bad Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Hi all! Dan here, a new addition to the disco 3 owners circle! Upgraded our FL2 for a 56plate HSE D3 in Buckingham Blue, FSH and only 108K on the clock!
Currently preparing myself to be poorer than I was before for the rest of my disco life but we buy into the misery for the sheer joy they bring to our lives!
Looking forward to trawling the site, learning new things and hopefully picking up some bits for the new motor!
Cheers!

Hello,
I have just bought a 2008 discovery 3 as a fixer upper to use as a tow car for the kids pony trailer.
It was delivered to me on a low loader and I immediately took it to the garage to get all the fault codes diagnosed.
Looking forward to hearing back from them in the next couple of days with the good news.

Good evening folks. Obviously new to the site so a quick intro. From East Sussex, family man, business owner and pretty grumpy. We own a Series, 300 and LR3. Shortest ownership was a 53 plate TD5. We have recently got back in to LR day to day driving with the LR3 after owning a Pathfinder for 3 years, bloody good truck, reliable, comfy and did what was asked of it but it was not a Land Rover. I found this site after searching for info on the 4x4 display not working on the screen. We have the GAP iid which we are more than happy for anyone in our area to use for diagnostics. erm... ex forces, home ed and did i mention pretty grumpy?
Should do for now.

Hi all. Heeellllpp!! Having trouble with my odometer .Instead of showing the mileage it says “error”
I have taken it to an auto electrical guy. He said I think new cluster needed but not sure.🤔
If anyone could tell me of any reason for this happening or maybe an answer to fix it I’d relax a bit and enjoy the old girl.
