Turbo Actuator
Planning to free up the turbo actuator when I get home but can someone in the know tell me where on the actuator I'm going to hook the hanger onto to free it up?

There is the link that goes between the actuator and the turbo itself with the small ball joints ,it's the end neerest the turbo that you can see if working down behind the battery ,with the battery and tray removed ,does that make sense

Thanks for the replies, just trying to get as much info before I go for it.
Going to go in through the wheel arch first but also have the tools on hand to remove the battery.
Hopefully going for it on Wednesday so will keep you all updated with the results when I'm finished.
Cheers

Through the wheel arch is easiest
I have just got mine working at last after four goes at it with WD40. In the end a good soak with Plus Gas did the trick then when it was moving it got a good spray of Duck Oil.
There is also a great video on youtube on how to do it.

Once you get in there it's kinda obvious when you see it, but there's lots of gubbins in there to stop you seeing it straight away, just don't get put off its in there - honest!

First of all thanks for all the advice and thanks for the info on this forum I've go my D3 working like a new car
Ended up attacking it from the top and side after doubting myself when I went in through the side, but once I went in through the top and used Mike's long pointy thing and lots of WD40 I finally got the arm moving as it should and I even cleaned the MAF sensor just to make sure.
Now that I've got the arm moving and working what's the best solution to keep it moving, as I leave the car parked up for 2/3 weeks at a time?
Again many thanks to everyone for there help and posts

Cheers I'll give the copper grease a go.
No sure what the rest position is,but with the aid of the coat hanger it moves to and from the engine block, if that makes sense. I had the D3 on off-road height

Turbo Actuator
Turbo ... Hi, Does anyone know if they changed the the type of Turbo on the later LR3 ? I have a late 2007 D3 and I'm getting what I think is turbo problems.( Intermittent Engine System Warning) I saw on the forum a helpful fix to the actuator with a coat hanger through the nearside wheel arch when taking off the heat shield you could get to the actuator link and grease?free it up? When I took my heat shield off, after a thorough search I couldn't find an actuator arm? do they all have them or di some have a different Turbo?
Thanks

It will be there, you will only see the end of one ball joint. It pushes away from you and pulls towards you if that makes much sense. Needs to be lubricated and worked in and out until it offers almost no resistance.Stu
