D3 d4 hybrid xenon

Evening everyone, I have purchased a pair d4 halogens although I was led to believe the were xenons. I already have a pair of xenon D3 lights. Can the unit on the side of the D3's be removed and fitted to the d4's along with the connections. I know hids4u do a kit, but thought while I have the bits to hand if it can be done.

Thanks for any advice guys

Dan the bulb fitting of a true xenon and that of a halogen lamp are completely different, the kits you can get Hids and virtual daylight etc, contain a halogen fitting married to a xenon build with ballast resistors etc.

I do not think having installed a few of these kits that you'll be able to make the OEM xenon bulb fit the H7 halogen fitting Thumbs Up

Buy a virtual daylight kit to fit the D4 halogens, they already have the fish eye lens, you'll not be able to tell the difference, member Philby has one in his that I took out of my D3 halogens when upgrading to true Xenons Mr. Green

Ah, I see.
Hids4u or fleabay?

Also has anyone here ever opened a D4 unit like when some of us did the de tangoed mod. Thinking of drilling out the backs of the fake DRL led strip and popping bright leds in and wiring up off a live so they are on with the ignition, like when I put in my led rings.

I was thinking about yours earlier. Just can't find the other side. I'm thinking maybe just use these until I sort out a kit as mentioned above.

Virtual daylight kits I bought on flea bay or from demon tweaks Thumbs Up

Hids have their own spec of kits including a higher wattage version Thumbs Up

Should I go for 35w or 55w? I don't understand the warth ratings. 6000k sounds about right perhaps.

Any thoughts on opening the lense to fairy up my fake Drl strip.

35w is normal oem xenon wattage, I've never used a 55w

5000k is for me to yellow, and 8000k to blue I like the bright white of he 6000k Thumbs Up

I've not taken the lens off a D4 I was led to believe that he glue is not the same thermoplastic one used in the D3, there's a topic on here somewhere Thumbs Up

I believe someone has done it, but you actually need to cut them open rather than just heat them. I have been looking for a cheap old one to experiment on exactly as you say but not come across one yet thats cheap.

Dangerdave above has a cheap one.
Right so 35w and 6000k sounds about right.

Danger Dave, the problem is I have sold my D3 ones and need to remove them ASAP so can't wait for the other. I'm getting the wings cut today so I can fit the headlights and post off the poor guys who's waiting. Someone up north is sourcing a front bumper and D4 wings Monday. Embarassed

See I'm abit worried about the ones I bought. The label is missing off of one and the other looks like its been attempted to be removed, now I'm guessing their either stolen or not uk ones. Is the anyway of telling. Or should I just send them back to the guy and buy dangerdaves ones?
