Looking like a compressor replacement!!

Evening all,

Got the yellow suspension light coming on with "normal height only" (D3 '55 80k's). Been looking into it on the forum & looking like it could be the compressor. Had fault codes checked at my local independent (C1A20 pressure increase too slow), was wondering people's opinion on getting the compressor changed, should it be taken to a LR dealer? Also what sort of price could be in the complete job? Before phoning up!

Any reccomendations for Scottish Borders/North Northumberland?

Thanks

James

Cheers,

Is it something which should be looked at? Could it cause any problems? Planning a caravan trip in October!!

Could I organise letting you have a look?

Cheers again..

Worth giving the microwave a go - unlikely fix in this case but it costs nothing?

I think Robbie is suggesting trying drying out the silica in the dryer in the microwave Thumbs Up

Drop the bottom cover off the compressor, and look at the dryer (big black bit with 2 pipes coming out)

The dryers are notorious for splitting inbetween these 2 pipes, causing C1A20 pressure increase too slow. Could also be a leaky airbag, or corroded air tank.

More than likely a split dryer or worn compressor though

I just stripped and rebuilt my compressor, got a seal kit from eblag and the rest of the parts from LR, microwaved the silica stripped and cleaned everything pulled the cylinder apart to discover the original seal is ok, so fitted the new wear ring and roughed up the face of the piston seal put everything back together and to my amazement it works great. Very Happy

Just have to locate the air leak as the front drops over the space of a day or 2. Sad

Where are the valve blocks are these in front of the compressor under the car or located elsewhere? need to test everything now for leaks...
