Saumur is a lovely place- nice wine too matured in caves above the valley. I camped there on an island in the middle of the river. Enjoy!
Stopped off for a quick mooch round on way home from Limosin last year, does look nice. Mind you, I could easily move to Mid France tomorrow if I could just get shot of the kids lolol love it down there. So much more chilled out than here.Welcome "Lola"

Unfortunately the best we're going to manage is York for a week in a couple of weeks, and then the odd weekend here and there, as we got back from three weeks near Annecy a couple of weeks ago
Roll on next year! 8)

Got back midnight Saturday from a week watching the Tour de France (Alpe d'Huez and Col du Glandon stages).
Road Trip app says we did 1994 miles or just shy of 250 miles a day. We used 391.81 ltrs of gazole at 23.14mpg. This was 5 up, with a roof sack on the top for the trip down and back, and 2 bikes on the back most of the time.
It was brilliant, and a mate got back into his X-Trail afterwards and asked why his car felt so small!

All with touring van (Eriba Troll):
A week in Scoteland checking out where we used to live (Alloa), Fife and Perthshire with a view to going back. Then another trip to Glasgow for, probably, the best Springsteen concert ever! Well done, Glasgow. Followed by a week in S Wales, Abergavenny & Brecon (RIP the two TA lads on selection) before taking the ferry from Harwich to the Hook for a fortnight in Germany and Holland. Going in for a service next week then we plan to clear off again to Skye so as to fill both legs with beer in Portree with an old Army mate.
Having served more than 16 years in Deutschland in total (last left in 2007) we were very saddened by the state, and formal closure after 60 years, of JHQ Rheindahlen. Complete silence, decay and emptiness except for the ghosts of the many thousands of British Servicemen and Servicewomen who served during the long Cold War (A complete waste of time and effort as the Warsaw Pact just walk in now).
Watched Bruce again in Moenchen Gladbach. Not a patch on the Glasgow crowd, and I think The Boss sensed it. Returned via the Airborne Forces Museum, Oosterbeek, Arnhem (tears........again!). NB! Camping Jagtveld, 2 kms from the Hook. Avoid! New owners, miserable, rude and unhelpful b ds !
Off to Terminal 5 Car Park in September for 3 weeks in Wyoming/Utah/Montana.
Now you're thinking bloody hell! Easy life. Got clearance to go on holiday late last year after 6 years of being a bit poorly. Making up for lost time.................................and it's firkin great!!
Nearly forgot. Saw Andre Rieu and his Orchestra in Maastricht. On April 30 he gave a concert in celebration of the new Dutch King which we saw on TV. Over 2 months later he gave the same bloody concert! Thousands in the audience from around the world who couldn't give a flying f**k about the Dutch Royal Family (including me) so change your act mate.
