Do you have the rear air con? If you do it's a common fault that the pipes corrode and then you get a leak...

Check the pipes where they go up into the rear unit ,the pipes are above the ns rear silencer . Mine leaked there , fitted new "o" rings after that was ok Thumbs Up

Condenser, not uncommon to leak at one of the seams. According to my dealer.

I had the air con recharged at Kwik Fit on my 06MY HSE yesterday and was blissfully cool but today, its back to blowing warm.

After reading through this thread, I have been outside to look and I can see some green oily fluid dripping down at the front of the passenger sill. Is this likely to be a cracked air con pipe to the rear ?

Typically I have the MOT tomorrow so I am hoping it wont be a fail (due to the leaking fluid) or too expensive to have fixed. Anyone any ideas?

Overmuchogrande leaking air con is certainly not an mot failure . There is a joint in the pipe at the point you have described and it is quite possible it may just be an o ring that has failed .

Cellerdweller Thanks for the quick reply, I used to know the details of what MOT used to inspect (back in the analogue days of cars!) but I have lost track over recent and advancing years!

Thanks for the info about the o ring, might see if I can get the guys at the garage to have a gander tomorrow and see what they say.

This forum is brilliant, it really is

So have a problem with my aircon, regassed and all ok, runs ice cold on start up but after 5 mins or if engine warm it blows hot. Switch to econ and back to colder air again.

Have just had condenser changed as was leaking.. Fault codes show unequal pressure? On each side (presume high and low pressure systems)

Any ideas? I'm hoping for a quick and easy fix as me and the kids are cooking in this heat

It isn't a usual DIY task

you could remove old pipes & replace with new but you then need to get:
- system vac down (purging air out)
- regas & checking lubricant
- leak testing

you need specialist kit & knowledge

actually if the pipes look "OK" not vastly corroded its likely to be the "O" ring seal that are part of the joints int pipe sections
I believe they were specified incorrectly.....fractionally wrong size & material
 BREXIT - done properly.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Hi All,

To recap my problem, I took the Disco into my LR dealer for a regas, clean and aircon service they offer at give or take £50 - after the car was in the garage perhaps 15mins at the most they returned to me and told me that upon inspection the front to rear pipe was damaged and corroded, and they couldn't re-gas it, they quoted £423 ish for the work.

After all this recent heat I couldn't cope anymore - So I called the dealer I got the Disco from back in November to see if they would do anything as a good will gesture - they quoted £2500 + parts for the job, so didn't go with them.

Friday on my way home after recommendation on here I called into my local Kwik Fit for the recharge or no charge service as a last attempt - and after about 1.5hrs they told me the Disco had passed the aircon test and was now in the process of gassing the system.

All weekend I have had icy cold air con Very Happy

Where do I stand with my LR dealer?

Air Con

The saga continues!! AC compressor replaced (it was broken - plastic bit floating about inside). All fine until 533 miles into France in 34deg and packed up. Think there is still a leak on rear system (HSE). Anyone know if there is a part to isolate the rear Ac? Must be something as not all D3 have rear aircon. Have spent £1500 on this ac so far and on the verge of driving D3 into lake!!!!!
