I have been toying with changing out my MTR's for some of the new AT's but I'm slightly un-nerved by a few feed back stories that I have heard of them lasting very short miles. Now I do appreciate that the only way to test these things is with the same driver/car/road etc but when I'm hearing of 10k off the front on a previously good car it worries me! I have heard similar stories from unbiased people but not enough to be conclusive. My MTR's will run 40k then sell on eBay as good runners with 7mm left. What are people getting from the new AT's? That's good AND bad not just the driving gods!!

Now 30k I can live with as we are all individual and that sounds like a reasonable starting place. Any other takers at the low end?

"The Pirelli Scorpion ATR handles on-road driving better than any other all-terrain tire. Off-road, it tackles gravel, dirt, hills and mud as well as most drivers will ever need, experts say. Its 50,000-mile tread warranty… expand is nearly as good as the all-season General Grabber HTS' (*Est. $165) warranty -- noteworthy because most all-terrain tires carry no tread warranty at all".
Sadly we don't get any type of warranty in the UK, but after c.45k miles I still had 5-6mm on the rear of my Pirelli ATR's (19"). Only changed them, to set of 18", as my suspension was worn and the front n/s inner edge was wearing badly. I'm anticipated getting at least 50k from my current set.
I drive between 20-25k miles pa, but more than half of that is made up of motorway miles, which isn't hard on tyres.

Same as you LT, I've got 45k miles out of my Pirelli ATR's (255/55/19) and still had 5mm on all 4. Only replaced them (with ATR's again) because of the car's impending move to Australia and the ridiculous price of them here.
2 have become my spares, 2 went to a mate who had a blowout to keep them mobile while he sources another new one.
In terms of overall VFM the ATR's win hands down for me, reckon I could've got over 50k miles out of my set. The GG's have a more aggressive looking tread pattern IMO and if the initial price is the driving factor then they win. Doing 30k a year though I'd hate to need a new set every year !! Most will understand that tyres with a hard compound will last a longer than a softer compound tyre and nine times out of ten the softer compound tyres will grip better especially in the colder temps as they remain softer.
Take a look at the BFGoodrich AT KO tyres which last for ever, I have these on my Amazon as General don't make the AT in the size as yet, the BFG in the cold wet mornings are dreadfull so as I have a spare set of 16" wheels I will be putting 265/75x16 General AT2 on to regain some of the grip.
The 30,000 miles we quote on General AT is a very conservative estimate as we have had 38,000 miles with 4mm left, but at that depth of tread you need to start thinking about changing especially at this time of the year.
To keep LT happy we did sell two (2) 255/55x19 Pirelli ATR's this morning which had only covered 35,000 miles and were on the warning bars.
We all drive in different manners and our needs differ from one to another, horses for courses gentlemen.

Indeed, I'm sure I could destroy a set of tyres in a day if I took my D3 on a track day
Given that the ATR's behave so brilliantly on road, I never expected them to wear as well as they do. There again given the relatively "tame" looking tread pattern I never expected them to be so good off road either.
