The following are the comments from the editorial team who conducted the tests:
The Scorpion put on a good show in the tarmac slalom. They were responsive and predictable. They held their line and went where you told them. 10/10
Gravel roads posed no problem for the Pirellis. Good grip at both ends of the Toyota Hilux meant corners could be taken at higher speeds than with many other brands. Even when you did get the Scorpions sideways, they responded by regaining grip quickly. 9.5/10
They drove through the clay pit easily and never showed signs of getting stuck. 8.5/10
They made the gravel hill climb look easy, with very little wheel spin. 9/10
The Pirelli's worst performance was on the sand. By that, I mean it didn't score 10 out of 10. The sidewalls didn't belly out as well as some others, but it still floated on the sand and had just enough bite to accelarate up the sand dune. They weren't the best of the bunch in sand, but they were still pretty good. 8/10
To Conclude:
The Pirelli Scorpion was the best All Terrain by a country mile. It was just as good off-road as it was on it and excelled everywhere. While it didn't win every section, to our surprise it came bloody close.

I went on to ATR's in the summer from GG AT2's and I can't praise the ATR's enough. The D3 is a completely different beast with them on, much more refined and handling superb. The AT2's were teeth shattering over bumps compared to these. Most of my rattles and bangs and headaches have dissappeared and they continue to perform consistently in the cold weather , thinking that the warmer weather might have been playing a part in their refinement. Well worth the extra tenner a corner, they rock!

I went from what you see below, plus a set of 17" Contis on the car, to the ATRs in the middle of the pic. They do everything I need from deep sand & 42c in Tunisia to deep snow in -20c in the highlands and everything in between, including fairly muddy Salusbury Plain 10 days ago. Very happy with them.
Re GG ATs, they only came on the scene after I committed to ATRs but would have made a difficult choice. It's good to have choices, sometimes.

That wasn't all of them either.
It was for 2 D3s, both of which had 17" Contis at the time. Needed (the idea was) a set of MTRs for both cars as the conditions were often like below. Then moved south so ATRs fit the bill and collection went to more needy homes.

Just read the test results and can't see the General AT on the list.
I this because as most of us know that the General is better.
"Country Mile" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That must mean I have 12 inches, but I don't use it as a rule.

I'd bet that most people will get a higher mileage out of the ATR's, so the extra £10 per corner is £'s well spent.
