Is what you are thinking a hinged rear bull bar thinngie, or something better for underneath? A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Right on! Couple of things that have put me off in past are:-
Only need it when using mud tyres, so I'd like it easily removable, with nothing ugly left behind.
Locking should be integrated into central locking.
Would want to be able to open top tailgate with wheel in place.
Go for it! A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Don`t want much do you
1 You could take the swing arm off but will be left with the pivot and catch reciever
2 You could only open the tailgate when the carrier is in the open position unless you fit 10" wheels
3 Why integrate it into the central locking?? I can resist everything except TEMPTATION

I've got a Rasta carrier.
To easily remove the arm still leaves a bloody big hole in the bumper skin - why bother taking it on and off? The arm itself is heavy.
Even when I run road tyres I'd rather use the carrier than fart around with the wheel winch.
Open the top half of the boot? You'd need the wheel to sit well below and well out from the bumper - you want that much overhang?
Locking? Why not just use a padlock if you're that paranoid? The mechanism on the Rasta is not going to open easily and I do off-road with it. I see no ships........

I currently have a wheel carrier.
Rasta I seem to recall.
I find the catch is very stiff to operate because I do not have much strength in my hands any more. I have extended the handle length for better leverage and this works well. Even the wife remarked how much better it was.
If the catch could be operated by a handle that was higher up, this would also be easier and less prone to dirt/mud ingress.
I also keep a few bits of recovery kit inside the spare wheel. I am sure the wheel mount plate could be designed to assist this storage facility.
I have tried to develope a High Lift Jack mount but nothing that suits yet.
A high level light mount would be useful?
That's about it.
NSN I am a hob nobber.

How about going "old skool" and bonnet-mounting? Front PDCs counter the vision impairment. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

You must be able to adapt the FFRR electronicaly assisted steps, so that it brings the wheel out from underneath Bodsys Brake Bible

I reckon the Disco would look great with another raised roof section just behind the .....first raised roof section , then you could slide that sucker down a greased pole when ever you wanted her

Done a little more design on it and unlike the others it will only need 1 hole in the top corner and no holes near the centre of the bumper for the catch. And will be operated by a lever about half way up the spare tyre so easy to reach I can resist everything except TEMPTATION
