what a differnce a tyre makes

On saturday I took my 20's off, running 265/50x20 Yokohama ST's, and fitted my 18's with 255/60x18 Grabber AT2's, so that I'd have some grip for the winter. On a steady run up the M6 this morning I noticed two things:

1) MPG reading on the crap trip comp was showing 36mpg, instead of the usual 31
2) the ride was crap - car felt really nervous on the road, instead of its usual "on rails" feel. I guess this is down to the larger block trad of the AT's aloowing more tread movement.

guess you cant have everything Rolling Eyes

What sort of pressures are you running at Al ? I have my AT2's at 36 psi front 39 psi rear and it feels fine.

i've gone with 33 front and 36 rear, as per the pressures shown on the door label. Do you recon this is too soft. Al

I seem to remember that Andy from AJS Tyres recommended they be run at approx 3-4 psi higher than normal.

Standard pressure is fine but some are unhappy with loss of MPG so to make it a little better up 2-4psi.

well my MPG had improved, but I will take them up slightly to see if the ride improves a little.

Cheers
