Locking Nut Remover Tool Broken |
|
Got some OEM locking wheel nuts on my car. Unfortunately the removal tool is cracked, local LR Dealer has said probably due to some monkey screaming them up to maximum torque with an airgun - Makes sense as I had new tires on the rear not so long ago, didn´t realize they were monkeys at the time, but that seems confirmed now.
Anyway, the LR Mechanic says that we can not get the rears off as they are done up so tightly and the tool just will not grab the nuts properly as it has a crack in it - So I need to get a new locking wheel nut remover... I was looking at it this morning and it has what looks like 3 x L stamped down the side of it, does this literally mean it´s code is L - So that is what I order ?
Secondly, is there another means of getting the things off ? I don´t want locking nuts on it anymore, so if there is a way then I won´t bother getting a new tool - The LR mechanic was shaking his head a lot and sucking in through his teeth (but he does that when discussing something simple like an oil change), so it was hard to get any real information out of him - Unfortunately they are the only local dealer to me, without getting it sent to Marbella (which is 2 hours away) so I am pretty much lumbered with them. Rather get advice from here than from them though - LOL.
Cheers.

Yes, you need to order a new key with code L, would be cheaper to order a new one than pay for someone to remove them by other means. Order 4 ordinary wheel nuts whilst you're at it if you want to replace them when you get them undone The End
