265 70/ 17" tyre problems

Looking at investing in some 265 70/17 mt tyres for offroad days. Has anybody had any problems running this size? I'm considering the cooper stt's (favourite), the kumho kl71 or bfg's. Advice required.

Many thanks
Ian

KL71. Minor rubbing. Great tyre. Thumbs Up

I've just had BFGoodrich AT 265/70R17 fitted to my D3. They are fantastic. Silent on the road and loads of grip. The only problem I have is that they touch slightly on full lock at the front when in normal height mode. Not a big problem and certainly something I can live with. And I do mean full lock, not just hard turning.

Any problem with getting the spare to fit underneath the vehicle with the 265/70/17?

With the AT2 on a 265/70 17 there definately is, the air needs to be let out to allow it to be winched up Wink

jnoshea, on your avatar it looks like the 5-spoke 18" alloys you have on. Did you change to 17", and, if so, why?

I run AT2 in this size on BB6 performance.
It's a great tire, looks damn good and are acceptable to silent on the road....

But I do have a problem.
We checked the tires 3 times on the balancing machine....they are perfectly balanced....
But there is steeringwheel wobble....sometimes at 80km/h....85.....90.....110...
And it depends where, wich road, when....
It's driving me crazy. Big Cry
So since it's not consistant at the same speed or same conditions, I don't think it's due to the tires but that there's something wrong underneath the car..... Confused

And this is not occuring when I put on my 19" or 18" wheels....... Rolling Eyes

Anybody had the same problem...???

It may be the wheels. Do the BB6 wheels centre on the hub or the studs?

Thats a good idea....though I think they are perfect.
There are more people driving those BB6-wheels without any problem.

When mounting them, they fit nice on the hub.

These are 4 brand new wheels, only 3 months old....

The thing that I find so akward is that it is not always at the same speed or on the same places...
Some times on a road it may occur at 80km/h.....the next day on that same road, perfect smooth ride at 80km/h....the day after....same road and wheelwobble at 95km/h (and perfect at 80km/h)
Try to figure uot that Evil or Very Mad

Start looking at the tie rods & ball joints for wear, don't think it's
the tires or rims, too random.

I've never tried it with the KL71 but I very much doubt it, even if I deflated the tyre. It's huge. I carry spares on the roof or in the back. I carry 2 spares because the KL71 is directional.

Got some Cooper Discoverer ATR's fitted before Christmas. Had a day off roading with Kankku in the lakes on some extreeme and I mean extreeme trails (SWMBO was crying in the passenger seat) and I must admit my heart was pounding. The tyres though where exelent loads of grip and very quiet on road also a lot cheaper than Goodyear or Pirrelli.
