I'm running Maxxis Bighorns in this size. In normal height there's a slight rub on full lock [can't remember which way] but no problem on full lock in offroad height. Awesome tyre by the wayClubs Mantec, Tasmods, LEDS, AT2s on 18s, Maxxis Bighorns on 17s, Remote FBH, BAS. ReMap, BSS., RLD Personalised SWP., Safari Snorkel, Faultmate, Three Musketeers & MUD

Get a trolley jack under the lower control arm, lift the wheel off the ground,
as the weight is now on the jack/lower control arm. You can feel wheel bearing/
tie rod/steering rack by hand easily, for wheel bearings/ upper/lower ball
joints grab the top & bottom of the wheel ( not the safest way, as space
is limited to get a tressel in with the jack, your choice ) and give it a good
wiggle from top to bottom, the tie rods/steering rack require side to side.
A second pair of hands/eyes would be very useful to help pinpoint the problem.D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

disco_doozle, Sorry got side tracked, did not complete my last post.
The need for the extra hands/eyes, you have two possible problems
with each test, as the person doing the " Wiggling " can't see where
the play is coming from and the person
looking can spot it D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

Finnaly found the problem....after a long long search....and tried lots of different things....
Wheel wobble came from sligt play on the Balljoints.
Did not occur with my 19" or 18" but did with my 17" AT² 265/70/17
They are, as you know, a bit larger then standard size in diameter and that triggered the wobble....
Yes ...my Permagrin is back Disco 3 TDV6 Aut. 7 seat, Zambezi silver, Privacy glass, Rosen A9 DVD, Tow-kit, K&N airfilter, Frontrunner Windcheetah + 4xHella Comet 550, tailgate ladder, 5 breaklights , Performance BB6 17" + Duratracs 256/70R17, RLD Skid-plate, Traxide second battery setup, Lightguards, BAS EGR's blank kit, BAS Silicone hose, Black bonnet decal,

265/70/17 MT or AT???
Hello!
Long time since you abandoned this interesting thread, since I'm just about to make up my mind if to go for KL71 265/70/17 or a set of BFG's AT 265/65/18 (or 265/70/17) I wanted to hear if you got any more feedback after a few years using your KL71's and BFG's!
My car is a 2008 (without rear A/C) but I'm a bit worried for the size... and wear to the plastics?
These tyres will only be used on off road trips in all kinds of conditions, rocky Corsica, muddy lanes and possibly a trip to Morocco in Oct which makes it a bit tricky to find the right set for all conditions? And the KL71's looks great...but of course that is not important...
Hope to hear from some real world experts!
Cheers,
Johan

I run General Grabber AT2 in this size and have no rubbing at all at normal height, not even at full lock.Dennis

265/70/17 MT BFG that I have on mine do rub and have rubbed through the rear arch liner, whilst off road...Richard.
If it 'bongs' one more time, I'm gonna drive it off a cliff!

Have loads of respect for the BFG compound. Tough to wear!
Was wondering if you fitted the 265/70/17 size (Contemplating swapping over from my 20" RRS alloys) to the standard 17" wheels I have, is it possible to have them with the white writing on the outside like this:
These tyres have the white writing on one side of the tyre only; when you get them fitted on the wheel, just have them fitted the way round you want - ie, white lettering facing inwards or outwards.
