I pod

I have not got an ipod but am looking at getting one, I dont know much about them to be honest.

I have a aux socket on the rear of consol and a aux button on the ice unit, the manual stats that the aux will work for satnav/mp3 e.t.c Am i wrong in thinking this socket will make an ipod work. ifso what do i need for an ipod to work.

Many thanks

You'll need a cable to connect the mp3 the the aux input. Male/male 3.5mm will do it for you.
I started off with nothing and Ive still got most of it left.

No sound at all?

Assuming you've chosen Aux input on the ICE unit, the next problem with just using the headphone output of something like an iPod is that the volume is often very quiet. You might need to put the volume of the iPod very high before increasing the volume on the ICE unit to taste.

You can get leads that plug into the dock connectors found on some ipods which will provide a "Line level" feed for the Aux input on the disco. Either that or some adaptors have small pre-amps in the iPod chargers.

However, you should get something with just a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo lead? Thumbs Up

Remember trying this in my old D3 before I sold it. I had to have the ipod volume set at maximum and the car volume turned pretty high. Sound quality was awful as it was very tinny and if you forgot to turn the volume down before selecting the cd or radio you nearly went deaf Laughing Didn't matter to me at the time as I only got the ipod (never had one before) so that I could connect it in my new D4 when it arrived Mr. Green

Crews control is right. You need a dock connector. Like this:

Loads of others.

What spec D3 are we talking ..... If its base spec then high possibility the aux in on the ICE and the socket are not connected together, vital bit of loom missing between the two ends .

Using an iPod

on the 3.5mm aux socket does work but isnt the best
you have two volume controls...one on the ICE system....& one on the iPod
.....change the track on the iPod & you can blow your ears off if you adjust the iPod volume inadvertantly

I dont know & have no experience of fitting the LR iPod unit to to lower spec ICE's but have a look around before you splurge...Harmon Kardon do a link system
 BREXIT - done properly.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
