there is a bedding in proceedure if my memory serves me well or is that if you change the brake shoes Whistle

Yer D3 vibrating and strong smell of burning would mean that when they take off the brake drum, the shoes will just disintegrate in a pile of dust - get em to replace for NEW ONES on all occassions, also to check the drum for heat damage Thumbs Up

Incidently, just had my rear disc/pads replaced on the rear last week, now binding when wet - in to stealers tomorrow Big Cry

Hello,

We have just had the same problem with our D3 we purchased from a forum member.

Husband didn't make it home untill very late and was very upset. Sad

D3 had to be recovered from the hard shoulder after one of the front calipers seized on and burnt the disc/pads.

This was after hubby had the handbrake stick on at the services whilst he was waiting for the front discs to cool down and stop smoking.

He also had to contend with unbalanced wheels which made driving the vehicle over 70mph unpleasant. Journey home was 150 miles!

Clarabella.

Same thing happened to me on the M6. The garage seem to indicate that they adjusted the handbrake a little too much.

The only problem is, it seems that that same wheel that over-heated is generating a lot of brake dust. So something is still not right.

I still feel some juddering at higher speeds.
 D4 HSE all the way
