Jason, try Endyke tyres in Cottingam (Endyke lane). They quoted £480 for a set of General Grabber AT2s. They don't have them in 18" in stock but can get them next day. I'm thinking of changing to them, but have still to make up my mind.
Thanks,

I've just purchased some 18" Continental Cross-Contact AT's, and they are the dog's and look the business. I don't know if I'm imagining it, but they seem to really grip in both gravelly and road conditions (which is all I've used them on so far )
I paid 900 and some change (including VAT) to get all 5 done and mounted at National Tyre (yeah, yeah, I know, but they had a sale on internet orders, anyway).

guys what kind of tires would you recomend for 18 inch standard disco 3 wheels ? i would like an all terain tire with not that much on road noise if possible...
is there any way that i can make the car taller from the ground by changing tires ? fitting higher tires would it have any effect on the tires being obstructed by the arch liners when offroading ?
thank you J.p

Jean-Paul,
what ad15 meant was that an AT tyre with little road noise is next to impossible.
However,
I just bought a set of 18" Continental Cross-Contact ATs. I can honestly say that I notice no significant difference between those, and the mixed set (Nexen and Wrangler) that came with the D3 I bought. And it does give a bit more height to the ride.
They have 13 mm treads.
Haven't had a chance to take them on anything heavier than gravel, yet, to attest to their off-road-worthiness .

Have a look at Vredestien Wintracs
You can get these in Hull btw BREXIT - done properly.

Just to add to the confusion...I mean options...if you shop around for wheels and then go see AJS you could get a set of 17" rims with Cooper STT's or Kumho's for not much more than the price you were thinking about.
You need to change wheels when going on an event - but you will preserve your rims; plus on and off road tyres will last much longer. The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
