| Discovery 3 master cylinder issue Genuine vs TRW |

Just learned a potential interesting issue when replacing the master cylinder.
I had a faulty master cylinder a while back, original one that came with the car so likely age related. I asked my garage to replace it with an OEM part, so they used the TRW master cylinder.
Shortly after this, I had a persistent problem with the front brakes locking on after letting the throttle overrun. The only way they could be unlocked (other than waiting hours for the pressure to release or taking the wheels off and disassembling the brakes) was to disconnect the vaccum pipe to the servo. Anyway, after new front brakes, ABS modulator refurb and a new servo, still no luck. My guy called Land Rover up, brake specialists, mates etc. to explain the problem and the parts he'd put on, but none of them had seen it before or could work out what was going on. So finally, we tried a new TRW master cylinder (to no avail) and then a genuine LR master cylinder.
On fitting the genuine master cylinder, everything worked perfectly and has continued to do so. Strange, we thought at the time, but it is what it is. Fast forward to today, was chatting with him and he mentioned that someone brought in their Disco 3 with a problem of locking front brakes, having just replaced the master cylinder himself with a TRW one. He puts a genuine LR one in and problem solved first try.
This doesn't really make sense as it should be the same part, from the same factory, just with a different badge. Maybe LR are just divas that turn their noses up at non-genuine parts. But, thought I should throw it in here in case it helps anyone in the future or if anyone's had a similar experence.

Have heard this before on here.
Something to do with the bit that connects to the brake pedal being the wrong length ?
Or incorrect engagement
